Not bad, quiz. Not bad. I grew up in a dozen very different places but my parents are both from Michigan... with some extended family in northern Minnesota. A plurality of my time growing up was in Upper Michigan. Bonus, I spent several years in alaska and I'm currently in California!

NEW MEDIA THREAD: (1) Starting off with Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu. I like the story that was present and yes, yuri do be yuri even if there are iffy implications with the vampire bits and all. Still enjoyable. Feel free to give a read.

(22) Denshattack: This game is really stupid, fun and chaotic. I just witnessed a dev team mash whatever they thought was cool and the end result was something that was wacky and cool at the same time, further helped by its wonderfully made soundtrack. Give this game a shot, it is cinema.

(23) Spider Man: Brand New Day: This movie is alright. It practically spells out what its themes are through the dialogue and is very unsubtle but its alright. Wouldn't watch again but if friends wanted to watch it, I wouldn't bat an eye.

(20) Until Then: Afterimages: Fuck, this DLC hurts having just finished it. To the team over there, my hats off to you. You have managed to destroy me once again. Thank you for giving me a game I can look proudly on as another Filipino and for reminding me that the world hasn't ended yet.

(21) Invincible Season 2: I enjoyed season 2 for the arc it tries to tell. I think this show's handling of interpersonal relationships are its best parts which are amplified by its music choice. I do wish there was more variance in alien societies and how they're structured but that's just me.

(18) Gameoverse (Pilot): I think the pilot does a good job in setting up what it's trying to do. It wins me over with the artstyle and animation. That said, the biggest jumpscare for me was hearing Christopher Sabat in this pilot (since I already saw posts about jschlatt being there lol).

(19) The Amazing Digital Circus: Having seen all of the episodes, including the movie, I say that this is a series that I enjoy. I think the last quarter of the series is its strongest and I like the character focus this series has. I'd give it a watch.

(16) Obsession: I like this movie. I appreciate what certain moments in the movie are a stand in for. That and the acting is really good. Definitely giving a recommend.

(17) Planetronika (Pilot): I think the pilot is really cute. Definitely has me with its artstyle. Not much to say other than I'm interested in the direction the series goes.

Now adding a new surprise, Saturn from #heavenwillbemine!

(14) Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud: Oh yeah, there is definitely a lot I need to look at and understand from this book. Great read if you wanna know intricacies of comics as a whole. Just wow, a lot of stuff.

So #deadlock has consumed me so I decided to make Iris and Jiao from #1000xResist into Mina and Pocket respectively Now time to lose another 9 games and flame my teammates...

(12) If You Let Me Butcher That, Iโ€™ll Love You by Tokinaga Yasuna: Cute oneshot; I wish there was more but what I got was good. I found the designs of the characters cute.

(13) The Witch Who Chases The Sun by Dawn Chen: This book I saw recommended to me on an instagram post and it is a solid book. It greatly utilizes its fantasy setting to explore the effects of colonialism and war and what it does to interpersonal relationships. Good read. Also, lesbians.

(10) Lee Cronin's The Mummy: Saw this movie with friends because one of them brought it up and we thought it was interesting. No. It isn't. It was 2 hrs of nothing (and some orientalism and ableism). I would not recommend it.

(11) Unbeatable: It's really hard to convey how I feel about the game. It feels like I witnessed people carving their heart out and showing it to the world; it's rough and really unpolished at times but it's honest and sincere and that's what made me enjoy it. I'd say give it a shot.

(8) Don't Stop, Girlypop!: This game very much feels like a first endeavor, from wonky weapon balancing to lack of difficulty due to movement/regeneration/health (in baddie difficulty btw) to how much care and attention was put into the game. I recommend playing, just be aware of the jank.

(9) Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud: I really enjoyed reading this book and it opened my eyes to comics and more importantly, art as a whole. It's interesting seeing the intentionality behind artistic decisions and what it says about the artist. I recommend it.

(6) Falling Back in Love with Being Human by Kai Cheng Thom: Maybe I am too cynical and think its a bit too preachy. Regardless, I think books like these are important, especially in the jaded environment we live now. That and also listening to minority voices. Not 100% my book but it's needed.

(7) As Long As You're Here: Having seen family members suffer dementia, Autoscopia Interactive really made a painful and powerful hour long experience over this condition and how it affects families and their memories. Putting it along with Time's Arrow for stories that made me cry.

(4) Tron Legacy: I enjoyed this movie significantly more than the original Tron. While it does feel under cooked in some aspects, its sincere in what it tries to tell with its messages further conveyed thanks to Daft Punk as the composer. The OST alone is worth the watch.

(5) Iron Lung: This movie, to me, had flaws but they were upstaged by the amount of passion and sincerity that oozed out of every minute of it. The camera shots especially were great. Give it a watch, its a fun time.

(2) The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't A Guy At All Volume 3 by Sumiko Arai: The interactions between Aya and Mitsuki were really cute. I know they'll be together in later volumes but its cute either way.

(3) Goodnight Universe by Nice Dream: I think this game is weaker than Before Your Eyes due to having to explain away its sci fi. I also wish more development was put on the family as I know the sci fi is used for themes on generational trauma. There are still great moments but its weaker imo.
