I’ve decided to share some of my artwork here. The first is an oil and cold wax painting on board. It’s called “Earnest”. Inspired by The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. Specifically the practice of creating a fictional excuse or persona to avoid social obligations.

A couple of statements from a non cycling individual while we were having a conversation about bike infra and safety. “I always try to give bikers space when I pass them but sometimes I don’t have a choice” ❌

I was sharing with them a trick I use. Radar taillight shows approaching car, move over to the left a bit. As it gets close fade back over to the right. She says, “oh yeah, to give me more space”. ❌ Car culture in the US

1.2km at 7.5% starts just beyond the bridge…🥵. No PR today! 😅. Looking at Strava I was 20 fitness points higher when I did my PR. It doesn’t even seem possible now.

Inspired by @goldbluebirdie.bsky.social thread I thought I would share a short thread on how I became a fan of cycling. In 1986 I visited the Netherlands with my girlfriend. Her family were ‘speed cyclists’ and I was invited on group rides. I have been riding ever since. We also watched the TdF…

That too was new to me. And I was repeatedly told that “an American can never with the Tour de France”. Well Greg Lemond won his first Tour that year. And I have been a fan ever since.

I’ve ridden past this maybe 50 times or more and until today never really looked at it. It’s quite charming. Added some interest to an otherwise gray, dreary and rather miserable ride. #everydayriding

You are up to date.
