I've always struggled with blogging. Social media too. I have no idea what my "personal brand" is supposed to be and I kind of balk at the very idea. Rehashing tutorials seems boring and writing content just to have content frustrates me. But I think I've settled on a plan I finally like.

thombruce.comOnce More, With FeelingI've come to the conclusion that I've been managing my blog here all wrong. I don't know how many times I've rebooted my blog at this point, or for how many years (decades, really) I've been doing thi...

Wow, AI is really, really good at SEO... ...and really, really bad at writing accurate information. What a combination! Factually incorrect articles that soar to the top of your search results. We live in hell now. 🙃

tmux was excellent, but terminal emulators like Kitty and WezTerm handle a lot of its features natively and therefore do a better job. tmux was always a more hacky solution and some terminal features and programs just didn't work well with it (see: I also reinstalled serie in the linked commit).

Remind me to, I dunno, write a love poem to oil.nvim and Harpoon or something. These are like file-management and navigation plugins for Neovim that are basically alien technology. They take a little minute to click into your brain, but when they do… goddamn!

Harpoon didn’t answer the question I was trying to answer… …which was how do I get a sort of persisted global search when I reopen Telescope’s live_grep… Y’know kinda like how VS Code’s search would work. …but it does give me an alternative whereby I can focus in on some key files.

But also… I don’t need Neovim to have an answer to that question. I can open another terminal (window, tab or pane using tmux) and search outside of my editor where I have more control anyway. Is that the play? Stop looking at Neovim as a tool for everything, but as just a bloody good editor.

It has taken me ages to get comfortable but I guess (?) I'm using Bluesky now. Definitely looks like I'm using Bluesky now. Here I am, using Bluesky now. 🤷‍♂️ I have nothing on Mastodon and I haven't posted to Twitter in over two years, so this is officially the most social media I've done in a while.

We don't count Facebook. Facebook is just how you talk to your gran and how you argue with somebody's racist uncle (may or may not be your own) in the comments. Facebook isn't social media. It's a familial obligation because your mum will never learn to use Matrix.

You are up to date.
