🚨AV Group is exploring a sale of a large asset separate from mill operations. It could be to raise liquidity, repay creditors, or form part of broader restructuring. Those possible purposes remain inferences & doesn't establish a mill sale or permanent closure. landvest.com/listing/NB01... #nbpoli

Team Holt’s promise of an open and transparent government has fallen victim to sitting across the aisle. Liberals & Gov. House Leader pictured below have used its majority to cut oversight committee time by half. I’m with Mr. Coon in this: it’s wrong. #nbpoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

“Maxxing” is Dictionary’s 2026 Word of the Year. Short for maximizing, -maxxing can be tacked onto just about any word to “convey you’re doing something to the fullest or optimizing as much as possible."

Another winter shelter, more pods & temporary solutions. Tonight, #Fredericton Council considers both. But where is the evidence that this is working & getting people into treatment & recovery? Compassion without accountability is not a strategy. thomjeffwrites.substack.com/p/when-tempo... #nbpoli

thomjeffwrites.substack.comWhen Temporary Solutions Become the Strategy.Another winter shelter, 30 more sleeping pods, and still too little evidence that we're moving people toward housing, treatment and recovery at the scale this crisis demands.

I was in Toronto last weekend to shadow the operations of the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon and its EOC. Working on operations for the Fredericton Marathon 2027 has been an interesting journey into locations and mobile GPS tracking, building on the planning module I developed for 2026.

Last night…saw the event posted for a riding constituency meeting. Hit the ‘going’ button & suggested the councilors for Wards 10 & 9 be invited. This morning….lets change the event. Hum… When will Ward 10 residents have a meeting? There is a lot going on. #nbpoli

I thought the NB Health Link was a wait list and it would be the source for attaching patients by some rubric like need and time without access to primary care. But just like the decision where to expand, Holt government has no plan for attaching…except a free for all. #nbpoli

When I was a senior executive in private sector, I knew the key details of my department and company. I expect the NB minister for mental health & addictions to know the wait times for care. He didn’t have an answer on InfoAM this morning. Not even a directional idea. #nbpoli

The majority of New Brunswickers will not see themselves in the Holt Government’s Throne Speech and will ask in what alternate reality is being told this afternoon. #nbpoli

Fredericton should provide Air Canada different stock images for its flights to #Fredericton. It’s invested a ton into tourism and these two picks fall short of who and what we are.

A full weekend shadowing the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon this weekend. Keen to see how we can make #Fredericton Marathon that much better for one and all.

My inference is recovering outstanding public money & protecting any assets securing it, deserves attention. Holt’s assessment does not establish default or loss to taxpayers. It demands disclosure of current balances, exposure & creditor ranking. thomjeffwrites.substack.com/p/the-taxpay... #nbpoli

thomjeffwrites.substack.comThe Taxpayer Risk No One Is Talking AboutAV Group may be tapping out of Nackawic. Before the Holt Government considers another dollar for the mill, it must disclose what taxpayers already have at risk. Are we facing another Atcon?

See, this is how you know data center projects are real: there is a real customer commitment. Until the 10 so-called prospective interests / projects can demonstrate same, they are political spin along the lines of ‘…the world wants what New Brunswick has’ #nbpoli globalnews.ca/news/1210509...

Met up with a New Brunswick founder last night and after three hours of wide ranging conversation, I left so impressed with the this person. We need like 100 more founders with this ambition and drive.

Premier Holt says 3 physician teams want to provide collaborative care in #Fredericton, but lack suitable space. Why wait for a planned 2027 clinic relocation? And what services are actually moving? My latest proposes a way forward. #nbpoli thomjeffwrites.substack.com/p/three-phys...

thomjeffwrites.substack.comThree Physician Teams. One Space Problem. Why Wait?Fredericton needs more primary care. A planned downtown relocation may help, but we should be looking for ways to move faster.

Aiming to develop enough clean energy to power all of NS and then some. Why doesn’t NBPower enter into a PPA as part of securing this project’s future and make it core part of NB energy sourcing strategy? I have more confidence in this project than a 2nd reactor. #nbpoli

20 collaborative care clinics announced, yet the Fredericton region has NB’s 2nd-lowest attachment rate and lost more family doctors than it recruited last year. My latest on where we stand, ahead of my next post proposing a solution. #nbpoli thomjeffwrites.substack.com/p/twenty-cli...

thomjeffwrites.substack.comTwenty Clinics Later, Fredericton Is Still Waiting. The capital region remains among most underserved areas. Counting clinics is not the same as attaching patients. Will government direct its final ten clinic announcements where the need is greatest?

thomjeffwrites.substack.comCount the Patients, Not the ClinicsThe Liberal government says it is more than halfway to its 30-clinic promise. But the public record raises a harder question: are New Brunswickers actually getting better access to primary care?

Fredericton has the worst attachment rate for primary care and hasn’t had a clinic announcement since April 2025 and that was, like many others, a promise of expansion of an existing clinic. I hope reporters ask why…the AG sure did & DM had zero apologies at committee #nbpooli

I gotta give a shout out to two of the directors for always asking questions. 1) The governance model is destined for failure despite having a former CAO (hired consultant) come explain governance. Why can’t CEO or Chair do it? How much did the AI preso cost taxpayers? #nbpoli

2) Why is a former employee who is acting as a Roberts Rule of Order guru directing meetings and interrupting proceedings? It gives the impression of guardrails and not for good governance. Something is not working. #nbpoli #Fredericton

39% of those polled were dissatisfied with Holt Government's performance due to concerns about deficits, debt, and spending. The 33% satisfied were based on “Holt’s perceived empathy, competence and commitment to New Brunswickers.” <-- None of these qualities are making any difference. #nbpoli

My experience with Muse so far is mixed. I've learned that Apple doesn't really like external apps. I get it, but it does limit Muse's ability to handle email and calendar tasks. On other apps/platforms, I'm testing a few low blast-zone apps to see if it is more convenient. So far, mixed results.

Paul mentions the former government touching the third rail in NB education: immersion. I agree and Paul’s second problem is likely another: inclusion. He says don’t ignore it, it is not working. #nbpoli

This has to be one of the most frank discussions on a failing education system and this comparison to Holt Government’s new education plan. #nbpoli

I am looking for this report that wasn’t included in the 615 page pack from last night’s Saint John council meeting. Anyone have or know where I can get a copy of this report? City of Saint John Position Paper – Regarding Provincial and Municipal Responsibilities Related to Homelessness

I dug into NB Power’s current state & the ‘must do’ key projects. I concluded it can’t do any of them without massive rate hikes. And that assumes they can borrow. A sale would give it access to capital and scale. #nbpoli thomjeffwrites.substack.com/p/the-550-po...
