The most interesting thing that’s sticking with me from the Jared Banner press conference today is Mike Elias saying Jared will handle internal players, internal coaches, player development, performance and healthcare. Elias: “I think he's better than I am in those areas.”

Responded to a comment on our site that I’ll share here because I don’t really think I addressed this piece in the column. For a baseball franchise, being able to win playoff games matters so, so much. Orioles fans have seen way too little of it for like … 30-some years.

There’s not a ton of good rotation help available, and signing Rogers and Michael King would be like getting the 2nd and 3rd best available pitchers but it needs to be done
