We're still so touched to float with amazing apps during the WWDC Keynote, and to be in the Platform State of the Union and the visionOS 27 Session. Yay CellWalk!! Thank you to the kind people at Apple and to the whole developer community for the best WWDC yet.

WIP: Trying to do something more interesting with the disordered regions of synaptophysin (green) in the syp-vamp2 complex of this synaptic vesicle. I have this bug at the moment, a little nightmarish, but cool looking. Flailing tentacles...

The first image is the broken experiment, the second image is the disordered prediction from AlphaFold. It's disordered, so we have flexibility with what we do with the tails I'll probably just run a little coarse-grained simulation when you get close.. they'll be a flailing blur.

WIP: modelled the synaptophysin-VAMP2 complex for our synaptic vesicle. This complex is involved in vesicle fusion. SYP forms a hexamer with 12 copies of VAMP2, a key part of the fusion machinery.

The synaptophysin disordered regions have misleading C6 symmetry from the AlphaFold prediction, so I'll do something with those too. Almost there. I need to double check principal axes and offsets, tweak some things, add a membrane.

For the VAMP2 cytoplasmic SNARE domains I did some randomized rigid body transforms, and took a bit of license to spread out the dangly bits (disorganized regions from the AlphaFold prediction).

Lazy morning building a synaptic vesicle from scratch. Super WIP and not correct. Much to do. But it has the coolest guys imho: - Amber: Vesicular glutamate transporter (VGluT) - Red: V-ATPase No membrane. Need VAMP complex, etc. #screenshotsunday

Glutamate charging works like this: The ATPase uses ATP to create a proton gradient, and VGluT uses the gradient to exchange glutamate (from outside) with protons (from inside). It's really quite cool how they work together.

WIP: Updated CellWalk's editor for macOS. I love how liquid glass adapts to the scene's colour palette. We're looking at an HIV model the folks at Scripps Research (this is just our dev tool)

@dreamwieber.bsky.social just released a beautiful video exploring my app CellWalk on the M5 Apple Vision Pro. Totally made my day. Thanks for the support Gregory! :)

My NEW video is on Cell Walk for Apple Vision – one of my favorite apps! It brings you inside the microscopic world 🤯 It's one of the first apps to take advantage of the new M5 chip – let's check it out! www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4fm...

I just updated CellWalk for the M5 Apple Vision Pro! This app really pushes the GPU (entire cells with billions of atoms) and it's a great way to test the M5. CellWalk on M5 increases resolution and detail 1.5x over M2! Huge. It's super sharp and detailed. Apple Intelligence is also way faster.

I quietly released new features for Apple Vision Pro in the last update: Widgets and on-device AI explanations powered by Apple Intelligence. I don't have an M5 yet, has anyone tried CellWalk on the M5 Apple Vision Pro?! How is it? more resolution (it should get more by default)?!

CellWalk is featured in Apple's new article on Apple Intelligence and Foundation Models. It's a really fun new way to learn about concepts and terms in the app, and I really enjoyed building it.

I need to store a fair amount of data alongside my Git repository hosted on GitHub. I've been pricing things out: GitHub LFS: $70/TB LFS Cloudflare R2 + Webworker proxy: $15/TB LFS Backblaze B2 + Cloudflare Webwork: $6/TB I went with Cloudflare R2 for Git LFS and GitHub for the repo!

github.com/milkey-mouse... It took about 20 minutes to setup: - cache all the Git LFS data (git lfs fetch --all) - Setup a static Cloudflare Webwork LFS proxy - Create an R2 bucket - Create a .lfsconfig file in the repo pointing at the proxy - finally `git lfs push --all origin`

github.comGitHub - milkey-mouse/git-lfs-s3-proxy: Store Git LFS files on any service with an S3 APIStore Git LFS files on any service with an S3 API. Contribute to milkey-mouse/git-lfs-s3-proxy development by creating an account on GitHub.

Haha, it only costs me $0.60/month right now!! amazing. I was storing huge zip archives for each point release of CellWalk on Google Drive, lol. GitHub's LFS pricing is just too much... but this is so cheap. Now I can properly version all CW data!

OpenAI’s new GPT-4o image generator is kind of mind-blowing, especially compared to what was state-of-the-art just days ago. Someone had to try the Ghibli trend on some crazy biology visuals, right? Here's my beloved whole cell model in Studio Ghibli, graffiti, cubism, abstract, and pop art style ✨

What a nice sight to wake up to 😊🌀 The amazing work of @cellarchlab.com, @florentwaltz.bsky.social and their team made it on the cover of @science.org and I had the honor to create the visuals! I hope you like this ATP (animated title page 😉 you see what I did there?).

We're on the cover of @science.org this week. Awesome work by @florentwaltz.bsky.social. #CryoET is reaching crazy resolutions inside cells, and this is just the beginning. Fantastic interpretation of the proton motive force by @verenaresch.bsky.social. Always a pleasure making #SciArt with you!🧪🧶🧬🌾
