When I first saw Ghostbusters as a kid I knew what I was watching was fiction, but I also sort of thought ghost busting was a real career someone could have

One of the pillars of Republican ideology is “always side with abusers and oppressors”. Another is “always double down when challenged or caught lying”

One thing that turns me off of a sci-fi book is if there is a religious element. I want to read about weird aliens and cosmic mysteries, not Space Catholics or clones of Buddha and Jesus co-captaining a spaceship (actual examples)

It’s kind of crazy to see James Hetfield try to reframe Metallica as an apolitical band who stands for “love” when their whole early era (from which their most beloved songs came from) was decidedly anti-war and anti-Christian.

So either James Hetfield is a right winger afraid of alienating the left with his politics, or he’s a lib who’s afraid of offending Nazis. Either way, he’s a chickenshit.

Top Ramen boasts “No Added MSG” like they’re doing you a solid but then has 1200mg sodium per serving (I know there’s quality instant ramen out there… I only eat this stuff once in a great while and don’t use the packets anyhow)

A company called ArtCraft used AI to reverse engineer all of Adobe’s software and recreate them completely. I hate AI but I also hate Adobe. But this could actually destroy Adobe if they aren’t able to win some sort of legal case against ArtCraft.

Ten years on and I still contend that this is a horrendous logo, even though it’s the sort of thing that r/graphic_design likes to tell you you’re an idiot for not pretending that it’s genius

There tends to be an attitude in design (which may extend to other fields as well) where the heavy hitters seem to say “anyone can make a good logo - it takes guts to create something truly ugly”

Trump has been in control of all branches of government for nearly two years now and is still (according to him) getting dunked on by the ‘deep state’ regularly.

I remember a guy in college who was so dedicated to lo-fi that he took the new Smog CD (which he felt was too clean) and recorded it through his four track onto tape to add hiss and noise

“If you don’t use AI you’ll get left behind” Isn’t the point of these AI platforms that they do all the work and thinking for you? Doesn’t seem like much to get left behind from.

If I use Safari to look at Reddit on my phone, this pops up after a minute and bricks the browser. Like you have to restart or manually do “Hide Distracting Items” for 3 or 4 elements.

I thought I read that John Waters was going to be directing a Star Wars movie, but then I saw it’s someone called Jon Watts and my interest immediately withered

My inner monologue while browsing in a charming little independent shop: if you don’t buy something this place will go out of business and it’s all your fault

People are not excited about AI in the same way they were about past paradigm-disrupting tech because this one is only offering to take your job and destroy humanity.

One thing tech billionaire “geniuses” like Thiel, Musk and Karp have in common is an inability to articulate a coherent thought in an interview. They should get whoever groomed Zuckerberg, who can now nearly pass as human

I begrudgingly bought tickets on evil Ticketmaster. What a miserable experience filled with little pitfalls to try and upsell ant trick you into agreeing to all kinds of bullshit extra charges. This is why I prefer DIY shows.
