I did it again. Went over to the other site. Scanned a few posts. Immediate blood pressure spike. God, what a cesspool. Not sure why I do that to myself.

Major League Baseball needs to just strike a deal in which YouTube pays like a trillion dollars to air every single baseball game. One platform, no fragmented nonsense.

The World Baseball Classic grew on me this year, because I came to believe the players really care and take it seriously. The USA crapping the bed by failing to realize the importance of the Italy game makes me reconsider a bit.

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays: Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink. If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business. Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Dodgers are learning that it's not enough to have a couple guys playing well. Shohei may be able to do everything, but he can't do everything. And Blue Jays are getting contributions from everyone, including guys making $700k.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but last night's 18-inning game sorta underscores why the ghost runner is fine for the regular season. A game like that is great in October. But on a random Tuesday night in May? Eh. But I do think introducing the runner in the 11th or 12th might make more sense.

To Maryland football: you know how to *take* the lead, you just don't know how to *hold* the lead. And that's really the most important part of the leading: the holding. Anybody can just take them.

I think all postseason teams must be forced to play one game with their worst regular season lineup. Like, I need to see the Dodgers start Matt Sauer and have Michael Conforto in left.

People forget that Mariano Rivera, the best relief pitcher of all time and the only unanimous Hall of Famer, committed an error in the bottom of the 9th of Game 7 of the World Series. Stuff happens.

Interesting stat about the Guardians: Their hitters had the platoon advantage 78.6% of the time. That is tops in MLB by far. They have consistently been among the league leaders in this for years, but never had a percentage this high. (In fact, I am fairly certain it's the highest ever.)

I like what @jayjaffe.bsky.social has to say here about batting average. It's fun. Let's not be so dismissive about it.

The race for NL MVP is interesting. PCA has the highest WAR, but his offensive numbers are just OK. No other hitters stand out. Skenes is tops among pitchers, but is only a hair better than Wheeler and Sanchez, who play for a contender. It may end up going to Ohtani again when all is said and done.

What is it with these people?

The press secretary to Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York resigned on Friday, days after the governor’s office confirmed that it was investigating an allegation that he inappropriately touched another aide.

There are few things dumber than the media piling on every year about Bobby Bonilla's contract. He was a good player, and not the only one receiving deferred money.
