Quick Gen Ai/LLM thoughts I had and observations Ive thought about, if you're tired of hearing about it then feel free to skip, trust me, Im so fucking tired of Ai/LLMs too. (I talked about it a bit in a discord thread and wanted to share my thoughts from there)

It feels like Gen Ai/LLMs are mostly feeding into problems that already exist within dev spaces and in general life. It's feeding every bad habit and unhealthy mindset our modern cultures have. Perfectionism, hyper individualism, efficiency, and similar concepts.

We're scared to slow down, to ask for help, to put our genuine selves into our work, to see the beauty in the mundane. Ai tells us that you can do things faster, not have to rely on others, to put pretty words out there, and that you only have to keep your brain entertained with the flashy shit.

I think Ive struggled to articulate why LLMs are something I have such an aversion to outside of the clear environmental costs (which is super important and reason enough for me to abstain from Gen Ai) but I think observing how it enables the toxic parts of modern culture gave me the words i needed
