Even though Barnes & Noble didn’t have any kind of table or display to celebrate Juneteenth, it’s so comforting that they were able to put this section together 🤦♂️
Listen to the story that shaped a generation. Decades after starring in Stand By Me, the film adaptation of THE BODY, Wil Wheaton lends his voice to an all new recording of the audiobook. Pre-order your copy and start listening March 24, 2026.
I finally started reading my first Dick Gregory book today and I am immediately and fully locked in. No doubt that I am going to make it a critical move to add more of his books to my library after this one.
“It’s tempting, especially in 2025, to see the world as kind of an undifferentiated history of awfulness, exploitation, and oppression. But how the world works has changed dramatically, and has always been contested.” @brianjoneseducator.bsky.socialwww.forewordreviews.com/articles/art...
I wrote about what the desperate attempt to find a trans connection to the Charlie Kirk assassination tells us about the deep psychological impulses at work in Trumpism. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/19/o...
I would completely believe you if you told me there is additions of Prince vocals on Anderson Paak’s song “Cheers” from the Oxnard album. (Especially at the end…)
Guess I’m gonna do a deep dive right now.
The tragic Challenger disaster. In my science class that was taught by one of the teachers who nearly made it to the final group to be onboard. Quite the emotional class day for all of us.
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.
“On our street, everyone is welcome. Together, let's build a world where every person and family feels loved and respected for who they are. Happy Pride Month!”

Readers, I am not the boss of any of you but I can’t suggest enough to get into book clubs. Even if it’s 4 people strong. People who read and align with you. And find whatever way to talk with voices after you finish the books (not just via text). It’s so lovely for us to commune with one another 1/
but read things to keep you alert and learning. Not just about our present, but I beseech (I never say that word, but this feels like the right post for it) you to read about our history too. Our REAL history. The good, the bad and the oh so ugly.
Read about our planet.
Read to save your life. 3/
and *then*, talk about what you read with others. Other perspectives open our eyes in beautiful ways.
(Can you tell I just had a beautiful book club experience today?)

…not only “lovely”, but *important* and a big privilege that some in this country would hate for y’all to find ways to do.
But, this is coming from someone who feels down to the soul of my soul that reading is absolutely political. Read the stuff that cleanses your soul and makes you laugh too 2/
9 years since Prince is gone. If you haven’t listened to / watched his performance of Radiohead’s “Creep” at Coachella, I present this as yet another opportunity to recall his brilliance and his love for music youtu.be/NFXZNt4oLkE
When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public
I walked into my local B&N yesterday and they were putting up all the stuff and as I walked through a wall of purple fringe curtain and thought: oh! You know what would have been GREAT for this purple decoration?? 🤔
I’ll solve the puzzle for you. The answer is Oathbound.
I want everyone to pay attention to how different the release of Sunrise at the Reaping is to the release of Oathbound
Both are part of bestselling series. Both are YA. Both deserve to have strong marketing campaign/ publisher support
Do you think both are being handled well?

The indie bookstore I work for just promoted me to Social Media Manager (wild, I know). How cool would it be if we got their TikTok page a huge boost? They are only 6 followers away from 5k! www.tiktok.com/@northshireb...
I tried my best but just couldn’t finish Parable Of The Talents last night and finished it this morning. I have a lot of thoughts and I get why people talk so much about Sower, but keep talking about the 2nd book too! Whew! #BookSky
Black History Month may be ending today, but that shouldn’t stop you from reading books by black authors year round 👀
Here are 31 books written by Black women that you can pick up in March 🧵

Woke up from a nightmare 1hr15min before my morning alarm. Heck no, I’m not trying to go back to sleep! Headed right downstairs, coffee earlier than normal and I’m gonna wash my brain with the book I’m currently reading!
Although I have done e-book versions of a lot of chonkier books in an effort to conserve bookshelf space, it just felt right to have a physical copy of Lonesome Dove to read for some odd reason. Shrug emoji? #booksky
I’m listening to this book this week and it reminded me of that Saturday morning that I was up really early, on that darn Facebook app on my phone and drawn into the Wayfair ch!1d tr@ff!ck!ng story to the point where I was about to start reposting everywhere too. I know who I am, but… it does make
…me wonder: could I have ever been truly looped in? Could I have fallen for it all and succumbed? I really don’t think so (like I said: I know who I am), but the rabbit holes run deep and, knowing how our brains work, and seeing some around me fall for it to some level… devastatingly sad.
I gotta admit… I’m disappointed in myself that I didn’t read a single book by a Black author in Jan. As much effort as I put forth to diversifying my reading/my shelves, I completely failed for an entire month. The timing of Black History Month is perfect to “right that wrong”, but I blew it.
Physical mailout of ARCs for THE BEWITCHING is happening today, as they pack the copies to go out to booksellers and reviewers. It's already up on Netgalley and Edelweiss if you want to request an electronic review copy. Out this July. Three women discover the power and terror of witches.
Ummmmm is anyone on the waitlist for TBX yet? This will be a tremendous timesaver for people with lots to read, like me! tbxlist.com?ref=K4e4YGRxn#BookSky
Black history month is right around the corner and our president intends to spend it making us smaller. Let’s interrupt that by amplifying these Black authors and reviewers instead!!!
I’m in Orlando, FL for a work conference and it’s not an accident that I packed all T-shirts that talk about books, reading, literacy, etc. in this state.
Reading & books are so important and meaningful. Reading is political and that is absolutely why some people want to squash it down. #BookSky
In honor of Booktok, what is a book you found because of Booktok that ended up being a 5⭐️ read?
Mine is Jesus And John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted A Faith And Fractured A Nation by Kristin Kobes Du Mez

Real question: I’m finally going to read Frankenstein for the first time in my life.
I’m looking at used copies but there are so many “different ones” (or are they?). Dover Thrift edition vs Penguin Classic vs so many! Which one is the best, original of the text? (Thanks!) #BookSky
