Great start for the Bucks — they’re flying down the floor and opening up good shots almost every possession. Herro and Jaquez have great touch around the paint, and it’s nice to see Myles Turner start fast after the slow start on Wednesday.

What a response from the young Bucks here. Anthony Davis is either getting buckets or drawing fouls every possession and got the Wiz back to even, and Burries and Jakucionis answer immediately. This is an awesome first game for these guys. Fun Bucks basketball!

Trae Young & Anthony Davis looked like matchup nightmares for the Bucks at various points that half, and yet the Bucks held Washington to 51 points and leads 56-51. Good team execution on defense and the glass, and great start for Tyler Herro. 14 points, 4 assists in 15 mins.

To go from worried KPJ might start to seeing him waived is such a relief. Move opens up key minutes for Burries/Jakucionis from Day 1. Would’ve liked Milwaukee to get value in return but clearly the league didn’t value KPJ’s gaudy stats given the touches it took to accrue them.

Given the state of the backup center position around the league I can only presume the Jericho Sims bidding war is going nuts right now

Happy Bucks probable roster move day. My official guess is they trade one player and cut one player to get down to the limit, but we’ll see!

The nature of the Bucks roster meant we got Jakucionis and Ware closing out overtime and the end of the fourth, and a sick end of shot clock half court lob from Jaku to Ware was the bucket to seal it. Bucks win! We take those

I think every Bucks player on the roster — including camp deals and two-ways — is dressed except for Nate Ament (sprained ankle) and Jericho Sims. Feels pretty noteworthy given we got a reported trade construct including Sims this week.

Bucks are down big — Indiana is better and shot the cover off the basketball in the first half — but it’s been nice to see Tyler Herro show off his all around scoring prowess. Mostly in game flow Herro has 14 points and 3 assists in 18 minutes, and has shot 4/6 on threes.

If Brayden Burries is gonna be the first guard off the bench I can live with basically any rotation. Need to see a lot of Burries. Great start for him against Indiana

Cool that the Bucks have the last two “steals of the draft” on the roster in Burries and Jakucionis (and Ament got a vote too!) but what exactly does a “breakout” entail for 2025 All-Star Tyler Herro? From NBA dot com annual GM survey www.nba.com/news/2026-27...

Taylor Jenkins is right to want the young Bucks to earn their minutes. But that means playing them more when they’re outplaying the veterans, not just at an arbitrary point in the season. We may be there already. My latest column: www.si.com/nba/bucks/on...

Playing the vets first, as protocol, is one of those things that's going to feel antiquated and silly, once one team asks, "but why is this the way?" Be that team! I appreciated the "but how long can you play worse players before you send the wrong message anyway".

I know his career percentages tell a different story but Jaime Jaquez Jr has looked like a good three-point shooter through 2.5 preseason games with the Bucks

Brayden Burries rewarded the 10 Bucks fans still watching this game with a sick driving dunk and clutch defensive rebound. Free throw game from there but Bucks held on to win 128-126. Jenkins went young with the rotation and while imperfect the team was both better and more fun.

Huge night for Kel’el Ware as funny as it sounds for a preseason game. If he’s good again tonight he’s probably got an inside track to start Opening Night

There wasn’t much to love about the Bucks performance on Monday, but Nate Ament’s confident competence was a nice silver lining. I wrote about what I liked and why it’ll be tough to keep Ament out of the rotation if he continues to play well. www.si.com/nba/bucks/on...

The Taylor Jenkins era of Bucks basketball tips off TONIGHT when the Timberwolves come to town. I wrote about three keys I’m watching for, including who starts and how Milwaukee guards elite scorers like Ant with their roster imbalance. Read here: www.si.com/nba/bucks/on...

The Bucks posted a photo of a lineup that could be their starting five: Rollins/Herro/Jaquez Jr./Kuzma/Turner. I like that lineup more than the Ware/Turner double-big group — here’s why, including the key to it working for Milwaukee: www.si.com/nba/bucks/on...

The Wisconsin Herd traded rights to Kobe Stewart, a wing who spent Summer League with the Bucks then signed an Exhibit 10 contract with Charlotte. Herd gets a 2nd round G League pick plus rights to Marcus Garrett & Evan Gilyard. Deal clears the way for Stewart to play for Swarm.

Kind of a funny wrinkle, but teams need to own the G League rights of a player even if they sign them to the NBA club on an Exhibit 10 then waive them. Stewart will play for Swarm full time and receive a bonus for reporting (the purpose of the E10 sign and waive)

I was hoping we’d get an extra look at the new Bucks point guard but Kasparas Jakučionis is not listed on the Lithuanian roster for this week’s FIBA World Cup Qualifier games.

Giannis is already talking about returning to the Bucks and I love it. Similar to KG and the Wolves, Milwaukee would absolutely welcome Giannis back for his last chapter. It’d be a great end to a storybook career. www.si.com/nba/bucks/on...

si.comGiannis retiring in Milwaukee would be perfect ending to storybook careerGiannis Antetokounmpo may be on the Miami Heat for the foreseeable future, but he’s made it clear that he’s not burning the bridge back to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The common thread between the last two big cap circumvention scandals in the NBA (Joe Smith & Kawhi Leonard) is paperwork. Both times a separate lawsuit (Smith’s agent moving firms, Aspiration) uncovered documented circumvention, THEN the NBA acted. Worth noting.

Pistons own 3 seconds in 2027: their own, least favorable out of Brooklyn/Dallas, and Milwaukee’s! Really love this if the Bucks get their own 2027 second back

Can confirm the Pistons are trading Caris LeVert to the Bucks along with two 2nd-round picks in exchange for Taurean Prince and Gary Harris. ESPN was first. Per source, the 2nd-round picks are from 2027.

Can confirm the reporting that Rafael Castro hasn’t signed a two-way deal with the Bucks. Maybe he still gets one, but Kam Jones’ deal was made official prior to him playing the California Classic and Castro, who didn’t play the third game, has no such official deal yet.

Kam Jones threads the needle between Oshkosh seat filler and legit prospect fairly well. Capable on ball guard drafted top 40 in 2025 but the three-point shot abandoned him between his senior season at Marquette and year one with Indiana/Noblesville. Gonna need to hit those.

I wouldn’t worry too much about roster fit with Kam Jones and don’t think the signing signals anything besides they want a look at him. BPA is a good philosophy with two-ways because a worse player who conceptually fits probably doesn’t help you anyway.

Bucks made the right call taking Miami’s offer vs Boston’s picks and flipping Jaylen Brown. Paul George, 27 overall, three future firsts, and two seconds Vs Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, Jaime Jaquez, 13 overall, two future firsts, 1 swap and 1 second

I have the Bucks at 17 standard contracts with Dieng and Markovic in less than 24 hours into free agency. Easiest way to get to 15 would be waiving Nance (partial guarantee) and Harris, but trades still a definite possibility to open room.

They're also something like $4M over the cap, but that is pretty immaterial at this point. Still have full MLE at $15M to spend or use to absorb salaries if they want to, plus the Giannis trade TPE. Tons of space before the tax line (~$30M)

Wow a regular roster spot for Bogoljub! Shocked to see that before summer league. Roster moves must be coming

KeithSmithNBA@keithsmithnba.bsky.social

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed 2025 second-round pick Bogoljub Markovic, a league source told @spotrac.com.

Two thoughts on Gary Trent Jr: 1) None of the top NBA reporters (Shams, Stein, Fischer, Amick, Haynes) have mentioned a purported new deal with Milwaukee. 2) GTJ is a Bucks free agent, meaning they could've agreed to a new deal officially/publicly if it was happening.

Great game for Herd two-way player Cormac Ryan last night against the Windy City Bulls: 29 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 0 turnovers, and 2 steals on 53/60/100 shooting splits. Herd was +12 in his 33 minutes but lost by 1 still.

Jericho Sims missed 2 shots today which is a ton for him. You have to go all the way back to February 25 to find two Sims misses. Not two misses in the same game — two total misses. Jericho was 23/25 in his last nine games coming into this one.

Bucks are getting paint touches consistently and it’s opening up tons of shooters. 19 threes and all or very nearly all are assisted. Giannis (8), Rollins (6), Kuzma (5) all racking up assists. Great to see a healthier offensive product.

Bucks throwing in the towel? Giannis is sitting the last H2H game the Bucks have left against any play-in team. Technically, this is the most important game remaining on the schedule. Maybe Giannis just happened to be hurt but this could signal a mindset shift.
