Arizona pumpkin patch.

Incredible TikTok trend. The song playing is “Where Them Girls At”. I feel this energy to my absolute bones.

If you showed my 18 year old self the income line on my tax return, he'd think I was "rich". In reality, I refuse to buy honey buns from the wally world bakery unless they have a yellow label and are close to 50% off. I'm not sure how my kids would react if I ever come home with fresh pastries.

The first stop on our road trip a week and half ago was Sycamore Falls near Williams Arizona. It was about 8 miles on dirt roads, including one fast water crossing that might have been a bit dodgy. But once we got there, the views were well worth the effort.

Convective clouds building on the back side of the Huachuca Mountains.

I'm going to institute a new rule for myself that I will not start a streaming series unless it already has at least three seasons.

This balanced rock will likely be one of the more popular attractions at the new designated Chiricahua #NationalPark.

We did a bit of traveling last week. Some of it was amazing, some of it could have been better. www.tmpic.com/p/grand-cany...

I captured this candid moment from the Desert View Watchtower on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026. I’d love to find this couple and send them the photo. Help #GrandCanyon #DesertViewWatchtower #DesertView #SouthRim #FindThisCouple #HelpMeFind #MissedConnections #Photography #GrandCanyonNationalPark

When you pay $100 each for a tour of Antelope Canyon, and this is your view for most of the walk. 🙃

It was damp and cool under the Friday night lights.

Clearing skies and a West Texas sunset ... sometimes the best weather happens behind you.

If moths have nightmares, they probably look something like this. #macro #spider

Do you ever process an image in an "artistic" fashion, but then can't decide whether or not you actually like it?

Now for #InsectThursday before I try and get some sleep, not that it will happen yet. So a mixed set of insects etc... for all to see from various venues. #MacroPhotography #ECK #naturephotography #CanonR5mkii #Photography #LifeInTheUndergrowth #wildlifephotography #Macro #PhotographyIsArt #BugLife

I haven't really been out on many proper birding walks lately. But that doesn't mean taking my camera out in the back yard can't still be interesting.

Perfectly posed pet portrait. I mean when they look right at you and practically beg “take my picture”, you really have no choice, right?

Today was week 1 of a new collaborative project I'm doing with some of my friends over on Substack. If you're a photographer and have a Substack, you're welcome to contribute B&W images of your own in the coming weeks. justbw.substack.com/p/four-lense...

This Juno Buck Moth Caterpillar sure looks pretty. But those spines are venomous … just like so many other creatures around here. lol, Arizona is the Australia of the U.S. in this regard.

Low clouds along the Mexican border.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is: #Mouthful; any bird with anything in its beak. Okay, so this little hummer is about to have a mouthful of mosquito.

Does this count as "landscape" photography?

Image of the Severe #Thunderstorm in Sierra Vista Arizona last night. This has been a fun #monsoon, and it's great when it continues full steam ahead well into September.

Playing around with my new #macro lens and ring light combination last night.

Can you tell the different between an Allen's and a Rufous Hummingbird? openvista.tmpic.com

Here's one you might not expect for a #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Iridescence ... A mourning dove in just the right light.

Atlantic Birding's #BirdOfTheDay Alt. theme is #Fledglings Just yesterday I was a Ramsey Canyon Preserve here in Sierra Vista Arizona and got to see and photograph this occupied Violet-crowned Hummingbird nest.

We went to see the waterfall last night and while we were there, I made friends with a spider.

It's a multi-use airfield.

Marine Corps MH-53 at our airfield this morning.

I'm excited that the Allo guys are finally in our neighborhood. Ditching Cox gets closer every day. Also, the sky looks pretty cool. 😎

Last week I got a really good deal on a "like new" condition Sony a6000 camera. This morning the TTArtisans 25mm F2.0 manual focus lens I intend to use on it arrived. These are the first couple of test shots. Not bad for a $65 lens on a $200 camera. 😎 #flowers #bloomscrolling

It sometimes fun to get down low and see what's lurking in the grass. This little insect is called an Antlion.

Photo a Day 2026 - Day 219: More harbor seals today! Here's a mama and baby peeking at me from close to our boat. 🥰Camano Island, WA #photoaday #nature #photography

Have you ever seen half a dozen red-tailed hawks flying in a circular holding pattern? openvista.tmpic.com/p/half-a-doz...

We had some really interesting weather the other night here in Sierra Vista, Arizona. It's not very often we get a tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service. Turns out it was just strong mid-level rotation. But still a pretty cool storm.
