The really striking thing? Darwin was only 73 when he died - 72 when this picture was taken

“If I had my life to live over again, I would have made a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music at least once every week.” ― Charles Darwin, The Autobiography of Charles Darwin, 1809–82 #PoetryLovers #poems #poetry #PoetryCommunity #PoetrySky

Very sad. He was a lovely man

Faber Books@faberbooks.bsky.social

We are so sad to learn of the passing of the pre-eminent Scottish poet, Douglas Dunn, whom Faber published for over fifty years, a poet others admired, turned to, learnt from and loved. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Today I’m marking seven years since our 10yo daughter Cleo died. In truth, I’m choosing to celebrate her. Because not a day goes by when I don’t think of her. And yes, sometimes that thought still comes with that tight knot in the chest, the one that never quite leaves. Some days, I still cry.

Can't resist sharing a limerick I wrote once: The philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche Is known as a radical tietzsche Maybe a nihilist Perhaps existentialist But his moustache his most prominent fietzsche.

🧡 Introducing the no.1 Sunday Times bestseller 🧡 Ian Leslie's John & Paul: A Love Story in Songs is at the very top of this week's Sunday Times paperback non-fiction chart, and we couldn't be happier to see it there 💫 🧡 Artwork by Hanndrawn 🧡

I know I will enjoy this last episode. But there'll be a lot of sadness too: a similar feeling to the death of George Macdonald Fraser and the conclusion of the Flashman series, when there was still so much to say. My life will be poorer for the end of something that has brought it so much pleasure.

I know we all spend our entire lives signing petitions, but if by any chance you know and care about the cafe at Parliament Hill you might like to add your name to this one

Just been up there - apparently they've been told to be out by the end of January, after 44 years. They're fighting hard, and really want people to sign this petition. Please spread it wide! c.org/gsxVMrWW8T
