Why are the representative organisations for GPs and vets in Ireland not objecting loudly to private equity companies snapping up their practices? At the very least these practices should be required to inform clients that they are not independent.

Future homes of British royals should be named after older royal palaces. For example, Andrew Windsor’s next home could be called “The Royal Nonce-Hutch”

At 12, Trump probably had the adolescent boy’s dream of ending his days as emperor of a great nation in a gilded palace surrounded by naked sex slaves. Instead, The country is trashed, the palace is trashed and he has a grumpy former sex worker in place of the sex slaves he dreamed of.

I was thinking about the klnd, socialist, elected lady who is our Irish President and the strange God-Appointed person who is our neighbour’s monarch, and the cowboy stories of my childhood gave me inspiration for a name for his OTT air-conditioned carriage: “The Chuck Wagon”

I’m reading an older English crime novel where the writer does nothing but criticise the behaviour of the lower classes. England is often a great country, but their class system has to go, even if a few Etonians and Royals have to be decapitated. Get on with it.

Facebook is full of fake cancer “cures” at the moment. FFS, trust doctors, not this shite. I had cancer in 2013, and am here courtesy of real health professionals.

As an old fart myself, I notice that women who knit seem to lose their marbles much later than the rest of us. Has anyone formally studied this? Someone should.

The “Irish Times” sports writer on Trump’s golf course in Ireland; “Golf Links must pose a challenge to presidential security, being made up of nothing but a series of grassy knolls”

When he won the Irish Open, the great Shane Lowry was faced with a difficult choice of clubs. Should he beat Trump to death with a driver or an eight-iron? Unfortunately the security buggers spoiled the moment.

Future scenario. The Earth’s leaders: “We are doomed because we have destroyed our planet. Let us store all our wisdom on this device and fire it into space so alien species can learn from it.” Alien species: “AAugh. Another Earth Data Centre. Arm the photon torpedos”

Today my three year old grandson, on his balance bike, almost ran into the President of Ireland when she was jogging on the Galway seafront alone. She smiled and ran on. How strange will that sound to any American?

The iPad end of my new charger meets EU standards. The other. Plug, end is an Apple size and non-standard. What an obnoxious, mean spirited, pack of bastards in that company.

The Mayor of Limerick in Ireland has found a “clever way” to keep Aughinish alumina, an aluminium plant that is a part of Putin’s war machine, open. Let’s hope the Ukrainians don’t obliterate it first.

In ancient Rome, when an emperor reached his sell-by-date the Praetorian Guard, um, looked after matters. Will nobody give the Secret Service a few lessons in Roman History?

Irish racists have copied UK racists by using the national flag to intimidate minorities in their communities. Someone has begun flying the Palestinian flag in response. I’ll bet this will annoy the racists, and any remaining zionists, if there are any left who can stomach genocide.

Viking 1: “You know Odin’s two ravens?” Viking 2: “Huginn and Muginn? Yes” Viking1: “They don’t work for him any more.” Viking2: “He made them redundant?” Viking 1: “No, he fired them for caws”

If kids in the US were more familiar with “The Wind in the Willows”, American people might notice the incredible similarities between the speeches of Mr. Trump and those of Mr. Toad.

All these damn migrants from the sub- continent coming to Ireland. Not only have they cured my cancer and another life-threatening illness, the buggers have just gone and made the Irish cricket team good enough to beat India.

Military thoughts from an unqualified geriatric: Crossing a border uninvited in a military uniform is a war crime. Killing even one civilian ( “collateral damage” ) is a war crime. Will nobody sink an aircraft carrier already with a drone and put an end to these useless money-eating dinosaurs?
