The main driver of “Biden inflation” was the impact on the supply chain of the pandemic. Today, inflation is driven by Trump tariffs and the war with Iran. Why? Because the supply chain is impacted. That basic economic lesson needs to be told to the American people.

Trump repeatedly claims that the Biden Admin caused inflation. That inflation was a product of the pandemic and specifically supply chain challenges that lingered. But, inflation was 2.9% by the time the Biden term ended. Today Trump is creating tariff induced supply chain challenges. Bad news.

As the politicians post their Thanksgiving messages, please note those that are trying to bring the nation together, as opposed to those that continue to divide us. I’m independent, but will lean strongly towards the party that throws to unite the country.

a few things to keep in mind… 1. The court ordered ICE to release 650 detainees 2. SCOTUS is likely to rule Tariffs are the responsibility of Congress, not DJT 3. Trump pardoned a crypto felon who has ties to Trump family business. 4. Trump campaigned on releasing Epstein files. The end of DJT?

Trump is killing the US economy. He insists that the US has been ripped off and tariffs are needed. But in reality, the imported supplies and goods allows US manufactures to convert these supplies into higher value finished goods. The tariffs will raise costs, turn trading partners away.

Trump tariffs could result in an aluminum smelter in Ohio. The catch…it will take about 5 years to build it and it will require the same amount of electricity that is consumed by the city of Cleveland. Makes you wonder if mega tariffs on short notice are a good idea.

How much bleeding will it take before Trump realizes that he has mortally wounded the US economy. Massive tariffs with the intent of forcing a few manufacturing jobs back to the US. Well, that could take 5+ years and meanwhile our trading partnerships will suffer long term damaged.

I don’t think he’ll listen, but I have a suggestion for Trump. Limit the tariffs to only reciprocal tariffs, back off on the massive $4.5 trillion tax cut and sit back and watch the economy soar. Oh wait, that sounds like a blue state concept, but it would end the collapse of retirement savings.

Trump’s arrogance is already sinking the US economy. Remember, he bankrupted 6 companies. He made his money on debt financing. He took the cash and the lenders footed the bill and lost it. Not one economist supports the brain dead idea for Tariffs. 401ks are goin up in smoke. What a fool.

Tariff roller coaster is running again, paralyzing corporations. Moving manufacturing takes years and significant investment. Global supply chains allow for specialization that is difficult to re-build. If Trump pushes through with an 18th century economic plan, we are in for a long few years.

Germany has elected a conservative. What is interesting is that there are 5 viable parties. The winning party earned about 25%. So, they have to partner with other factions to get stuff done. That will temper the bat shot crazy changes. America needs to find away out of the 2 party system.

Due to Trump’s view of the world and his approach to cooperation, I wonder if Americans will soon need visas to travel to most places in the world. I would not be surprised if that happens country by country over the next 4 years. Is America an ally? If no, visas will be required.

Beyond all the other crap, Trump’s fallacy is that he is stuck in extremely old school economic thinking. Tariffs and oil. Our economy is going to get decimated as much of the world focuses on free trade and the future of energy.

@Elon, is it ‘efficient’ if the courts force a reversal of all the actions that violate previous appropriations by Congress? In the end, all this crap will prove to be incredibly wasteful. Clinton was masterful at balancing the budget. Musk and Trump are proving to be inept buffoons.

@Elon, I have a Doge related question. Saw your press conference. Thanks for the updates. I love kids and have 2 of my own. Since I have to work in the office 5 days a week now or resign, can I bring my kids? How about my puppy?

Is there a single economist in the BlueSky community that can explain how Trump’s tariffs will benefit the US economy? I hope I’m wrong, but Econ 101 suggests this trade war will be universally bad for global GDP and yes, that will pull America into economic peril.

Trade deficits are not always evil. I argue it is capitalism at its finest. We source raw materials at the best price, then convert those materials into products that creates the largest GDP in the world. I fear Trump will create a supply chain problem that could do serious harm to the US economy

On X, there is a picture of Musk sleeping on the floor with comments about how patriotic he is for his efforts. Replies comment that people were brought to tears. My point…regardless of a personal opinion about Elon, anyone who believes it is a real picture is a completed idiot and often duped.

6 times entities led by Trump filed for bankruptcy. There is a need to make sure the United States is not #7. Yes, he’s slashing spending and picking fights with other governments. The real concern is that the net impact will devastate the US economy. Stifle trade, hurt GDP. Isolationism is bad

In Saint Tom Minnesota, I am concerned that cutting the food programs distributed by USAID will not only cede US influence in developing countries, but it will also hurt farmers in the heartland and ripple through the economy. St Tom, MN was formerly known as St Paul. Fair game to change names

If you’re a business dependent on supplies, and your supplier was erratic, what would you do? I assume find new suppliers. Trump’s threats and trade war will have a massively negative impact on the US economy. I might be next week or in 20 months, but we should expect a 15% drop in the markets.

Horror story part 1 is how Trump is ceding American influence around the world by abandoning foreign aid. Horror story part 2 will be unveiled when we see how the ‘savings’ will be spent. Tax breaks for the wealthy most likely. Part 3 is that Trump will still increase the deficit by at least $2TT

A mid-mid-term referendum would be cool. Not a poll that few will trust, but a non-binding vote on all elected officials. If Trump claims he has a mandate, he shouldn’t be worried. But I suspect he has lost 20% of the people who voted for him already. Make every Election Day interesting again.

What could possibly go wrong if the government purges the CIA and FBI, then fills those vacancies with loyalists and people who will do the Presidents bidding. This is more like “weaponization for mass destruction’ of government….a whole new meaning for the WMD acronym.

You are up to date.
