VisionQuest, very Doctor Who-y and very good. Maybe the best thing Marvel or Doctor Who have done on TV for ages. (Give or take two or three episodes or the last DW series).

No. All poems should be read aloud. I’ll go further. They should come with accompanying videos. Different actors should read them - this should be as acceptable as a music cover version.

At times, with a counsellor, therapist or perhaps girlfriend I end up describing myself as inhabiting an emotional liminal space. I blame Joel Morris and Will Maclean entirely for this .

Joel Morris@gralefrit.bsky.social

(This means it’s what the hip kids might call a liminal space. There is a historic residential building and a location, dating back to the right period - so the museum looks the part - but 221b was also never there, at 221b. It’s a bit like Room 13 in MR James. An impossible, folded space.)

I have been driven to madness by the unified political consensus that "workers should train themselves. Capital should not have to train its labor" This really dominated post 2008 when jobs didn't exist but the political economy blamed out of work workers. Its a capitalist brain worm!

I didn’t hear Sportsound tonight but can only imagine there was a 40 minute discussion on the precarious position of the Motherwell manager.

Actually, number one should be: The killing floor? fon’t be put off by the name, Timmy, it’s not so much as a floor, more of a sluice…

five Simpsons lines I’ve uttered most 5) you don’t snuggle with Max Power you strap in and feel the Gs 4) I don't understand it. That was nonalcoholic champagne 3) those stars up there never did no good for nobody 2) Taft you old dog 1) you don’t make friends with salad

The five Simpsons lines I've uttered most 5) "Aurora Borealis?! At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen?!" 4) "Simpson eh? Excellent!" 3) "So I says to Mabel I says.." 2) "Simpson you diabolical.." 1) "Is it about my cube?"

If someone was aggressive and unpleasant to people they didn’t know / never met, but also really nice to their close friends, I’m not sure the second thing makes the first thing OK. It’s a bit of a low fucking bar, to be honest. It’s hardly worth celebrating. “Was nice to eight selected people.”

I still think this is basically the best analysis of American foreign policy/military leadership's attitude.

I‘m told in professional wrestling, veering off script and hitting somebody for real because fuck this, you want to win is called doing a shoot. I believe a lot of American elites view Iran in this light and think Iran very unprofessional and unsportsmanlike for not sticking to the COD NPC script.

Heard somewhere recently that the London underground is so hot because of residual energy, and if they just shut it for 6 months it would be nearly freezing. Why didn’t they do this during lockdown, was it needed for essential workers?

Two Finns go on holiday. They arrive and go out drinking, carry on all day in silence. Then the next day the same, not a word spoken. Finally on the third day one turns to the other and says "it's alright here isn't it?" His friend looks at him and says "Are we here to talk or are we here to drink?"

The best description of Chis Evan’s I have ever heard. Get Phil to play him when they make the Jon Ronson biography.

Al Kennedy@alkennedy.bsky.social

Especially when we get to see Evans looking like Phil Cornwell being Michael Caine on Stella Street

This is a bit more like it. Had the let off, let’s see Ferguson send it to McKenna, knock down to Shankland or McLean. Goal made in Aberdeen.

Anyone seen analysis on strips with those little collars - see Uruguay - and how the teams perform. Got a feeling they might be the kiss of doom.

This could be a typical Steve Clark game. Drab, poor football, Eamon Brophy pops up scores with the only shot on target. 1-1. We’re through.

Okay. Scotland will go in to the final game needing something from Brazil. We’ll be convinced we can do it - talk for France, Spain and Denmark games. Brazil will be on 4 points with a positive goal difference, and effectively qualified. … Then we’ll go and beat them.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Creeping Scottish existentialist dread that this is not enough. We need to score again, because Morocco and Brazil will pop in a few past us.

"I have held high office: the highest in the land. I know doctors, dentists, and architects. I speak from a position of moral and political authority here, (Rachel) Reeves."

But they will be shackled to CR7 with all that creativity expected to plant a ball on his head/toe while he meanders around the edge of the box. It will make them slow and easy to play against.
