This is mostly a reminder to myself to make a comment. But you can, too! Healthy shorelines are necessary living infrastructure for humans and our other-then-human neighbors.

Take action to protect Washington shorelines! 🌊 As part of HB 1181, the Dept. of Ecology is required update its shoreline master program guidelines to address the impact of sea level rise & increased storm severity on people, property, & the environment. 1/2

MAJOR UPDATE: Shortly after this published, I obtained another document confirming this will be a removal flight only. If carried out, it would be the largest third-country removal to Africa so far: 25 people to Eq. Guinea, 30 to Burundi + 100 to Central African Rep. prospect.org/2026/10/21/i...

ecent rainfall has improved flows enough to allow some salmon to resume upstream migration, but low-water conditions persist in the region and continue to raise concerns about Chinook and coho migration patterns and escapement.

Factors that support this decision include fishery monitoring data and environmental conditions. In-season fishery monitoring in both basins shows that coho harvest is substantially lower than anticipated, suggesting that the 2026 return is lower than preseason projections.

Additionally, below-average summer precipitation in the Hoh and Quillayute watersheds has contributed to low river flows, delaying salmon migration and causing Chinook and coho salmon to hold in lower river reaches rather than continuing upstream to their spawning areas.

THIS. Also, if you have the time, click on the original post to read a most excellent thread. It is a sad fact that advocating for these things will likely get you attacked and feeling gaslit, but I am here to tell you that you are the sane one and far from alone. Together we keep going.

Tapping the sign again. We are fighting fascism. Everything politically has moved to the right. We have a responsibility to pull left, to demand progressive taxation, to insist on the rights of the unhoused and the working poor.

Paired with buying up private property, this would also be one of the best things we could do to boost local salmon runs & therefore food for orcas. With public ownership of our beaches & shorelines, we could make a concerted large-scale effort to restore nearshore marine habitat for baby salmon.

I would love to see one of the state-wide public lands organizations take up the fight to regain public access to all of Washington’s beaches. #RightToRoam

letter to the county council rather than sign off on these garbage amendments. The Sassquatch encourages our dearest cinnabuns in Snohomish County to check out the nonpartisan and non-California-billionaire-funded League of Women Voters guide to the charter amendments:

Imagine being so sure you can't win you that try to subvert the game for yourself? And attempt to change the actual county CHARTER to do it? Desperation isn't cute, and wasting public money with a commission stacked to do the bidding of an ideological minority is even less cute.

The five proposed amendments are, like the commission "supermajority" F42 bragged about electing last fall, absolute crap. Sassquatch's condolences to the four commissioners who didn't come from F42 and ultimately signed a dissent

out of his county council seat that they might support next year? Maaaybe someone that F42 already has on board as their "Snohomish County Director" - LOL, guys, it's our friend Nate Nehring, who was never elected to a single thing before he was appointed to the county council in 2017.

charter commission. The over $80,000 in independent expenditures in 2025's commission elections came from PACs Heywood contributed to, like "Concerned Taxpayers of Washington," which sent out mailers across the county. F42 took credit for electing their supermajority last fall, which kinda

spilled the coordination beans (but thanks for the tip, Brian!). Now that the commission work is done, we see F42's framing in their cute attempt at a voters' guide: they want to elect a "pro-business and pro-public safety" county slate. Who, I wonder, might be a Republican about to term

Oof, how embarrassing. 😳 Snohomish County has never elected a Republican executive, so ahead of the new one the county will elect next year, ANOTHER bunch o' Brian Heywood groups (Future 42/Project 42/League of our Own/etc.) put thousands into electing a li'l ol' supermajority to the county

The Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians passed a resolution opposing harmful initiatives I-001 and I-638. Seeding Justice Executive Director Se-ah-dom Edmo said, β€œThese measures do not reflect our values, and we will not stand by while our young people are used as political targets."

Why are we starving the people who feed us? Oh yeah. Corporate greed. People over corporations, always. We have to fight for this, friends.

In WA State farm workers are harvesting Granny Smith apples. Hector says, "I feel very unhappy about what they're paying us. Last year, we were paid $33/900lb bin. This year they are only paying us $30/bin. It's increasingly difficult to cover my family's expenses. #WeFeedYou
