Sharing a painting I did while off roading in the San Juan Mountains in Colorado. There were so many beautiful yellow wildflowers every where I looked. Did you know every time we off road we encounter cows? Even at 11,000 feet altitude. #art #softpastel #offroading #colorado #landscape #jeeplife

In When Peace Gently Breaks Open, water rushes through the trees and tumbles over rock, while wildflowers brighten the forest floor. I used soft pastel layers to bring out the shimmer of the cascade and the warm, earthy tones of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. #painting #nationalparks #art

Where the Coast Breathes portrays the lively meeting of ocean and rock along a rugged New England shore. The sea feels full of movement, yet the rocks offer a steady place for the eye to rest. The contrast between the restless sea and the solid shoreline gives the scene its energy. Available #art

By the water’s edge I stand, Pastel grasses, soft and grand— Colors waltz in pink and green, Nature’s ballroom, calm and clean. If you need a peaceful view, Hang this scene where worries flew! Let the ripples, sky, and reeds Soothe your soul and meet your needs. #landscape #painting #art

The coast doesn’t whisper—it crashes, splashes, and steals the scene. In Where the Coast Breathes, deep blue-green waves surge around rugged New England rocks. Soft pastel on sanded paper lets every splash and shifting current feel alive, capturing the wild rhythm of the shoreline. Prints available

Why do coastal scenes feel so restorative? Part of it is the balance of movement and stillness. The water keeps shifting, the rocks stay grounded, and the eye naturally moves between energy and calm. Seascapes invite you to slow your breathing and settle in. Prints available- DM for info #painting

There’s nothing quite like the sight of evergreen trees kissed by snow—Mother Nature’s own winter wonderland! Each branch sparkles with fresh powder, turning the forest into a peaceful, magical escape. These resilient trees remind us that beauty and life endure, even in the quietest seasons. #art

A quiet winter trail, waiting for your next step…In A Trail Etched in Snow, fresh snowfall softens the forest path and leaves every branch dusted in white. I love how a familiar trail can feel brand new after a storm just a few footprints, a hush in the woods, and the crunch of snow underfoot. #art

A quiet winter walk in Central Park, where even the snow seems to glow. In Central Park Winter, a graceful stone bridge leads the eye over a still stream, while soft pastel colors bring warmth to the snowy landscape. The blues and golden trees turn a familiar city scene into a peaceful pause. #art

A stone wall, a snowy path, and a cabin waiting quietly beyond the trees… ❄️ In Waiting for the Maple Run, winter settles over a peaceful New England woodland. I layered soft pastel on sanded paper, using rich color and textured tree bark to bring warmth to this snow-covered rural landscape. #art

Winter’s Little Hideaway - a soft pastel painting which brings a reminder that even in the coldest season, the world keeps flowing Which detail draws your eye first: the rushing stream, the snow-covered stones, or the evergreen branches? #landscape #art #softpastel #winter #painting

Good Sunday Morning! It’s a foggy day here so I thought I’d share “Fog and Foam;Acadia”. This soft pastel depicts the contrast between the ocean, the rock and the air. All three fight for attention along the park’s coast! Any thoughts on this one? #softpastel #seascapes #art

What if a painting could feel like a deep breath?
That’s what I’m always chasing in the studio — the quiet, the softness, the sense of stepping into a place that asks nothing of you except to pause. This piece was built from layers of pastel to hold onto that feeling a little longer #art #softpastel

Shapes, colors, marks and imaginative play … When I don’t have the stamina to stand at the easel for hours at a time I play. It keeps my creative juices flowing ! How do you keep your creativity flowing? #art #creativity #abstract #play

When Peace Gently Breaks Open - In this piece, the quiet of the Smokies reaches its breaking point-not with violence, but with a tender, inevitable release. A stream swells beyond what its banks can hold, water rushing and spilling in a way that feels both urgent and strangely compassionate. #art

The soft light in this meadow always makes me pause. I love how spring can hold so many colors at once—gold, green, violet, and sky—yet still feel completely peaceful. This pastel landscape is my reminder that beauty grows when everything has room to belong. Cades Cove GSMNP #art #landscape

In all seriousness, one thing that might be worth doing today: Tell your Reps and Senators to call Adm. Richard Correll, the Commander of U.S. Strategic Command, which controls the nation's nukes, and remind him of *his* unique responsibility to refuse an illegal order.

Lately I’ve been thinking about how a meadow holds its harmony: golden grasses, cool violets in the shadows, fresh greens on the trunks, soft blues in the distance. None of those colors match—but they all belong. People are just like colors of the meadow- they all belong no matter their differences

Introducing my newest soft pastel painting, “Divided Paths, Shared Forest.” This piece began as a quiet moment along the Roaring Forks area of Great Smoky Mountain National Park—a simple trail slipping into the green, then splitting in two. #artistsonbsky #softpastel #landscape

The dark tree trunks at the heart of the scene rise like steady sentinels, anchoring your eye the way a moral compass anchors a life. Even as the trail divides, those strong verticals remind us that we’re still rooted in the same forest, breathing the same air, sharing the same ground.

Any one else tired of winter? Hubs and I just escaped the north between snowstorms. We are heading towards the Smoky Mountains where one of my paintings is on display this month. The temperature has changed from 20 to low 70’s! I’m looking forward to painting spring in the Smokies💕 #art #spring

Snowy week ahead so I thought I’d share my favorite painting - this one hangs in our family room. It’s the one painting I’ve painted where I won’t sell the original. I love the frosted trees. I keep reminding myself spring is coming - until then I’ll keep focusing on the beauty of winter. #art

Desert grandeur meets literary reflection in this week’s Pastels and Prose pairing! Inspired by the timeless formations of Arches, 'The Three Gossips' captures the quiet strength and mystery of the desert. I’m pairing it with Edward Abbey’s 'Desert Solitaire’ 📚💙 1/2

Desert Solitaire'—a memoir that celebrates the wild beauty and solitude of these ancient landscapes. In Desert Solitaire, Abbey recounts his many escapades, adventures, and epiphanies as an Arches National Park ranger outside Moab, Utah.📚💙2/3

Take a stroll with me through Cedar Breaks, where wildflowers paint the path in yellows and oranges. This pastel captures that magical moment when sunlight filters through the forest canopy, creating a wonderland of color and light. The winding trail beckons you deeper into this peaceful sanctuary.
