I think the main thing that's held me back from enjoying macklemore's music hidtorically is his sense of self-seriousness. After seeing his rock-solid commitment to his principles under tremendous scrutiny, it's a lot easier not to take it as all bluster. Maybe he's earned some self-seriousness.
