As Community Transport Week draws to a close, we wanted to say a huge thank you to the Community Transport Association, and all the staff and volunteers working year round get disabled people were we need to go. #CTWeek26

Our Interim CEO was at the launch of Great British Railways' new headquarters in Derby yesterday. For disabled people, what matters is that rail reform delivers a railway we can rely on so we can all make the journeys we want with confidence and ease. We'll keep pushing until that's the reality.

When we're out and about, we all need a loo we can use. If you're planning a journey, this super useful tool will help to find Changing Places toilets along the way. Definitely one to bookmark and share!

It's great to hear the new trains on TransPennine Express will deliver independent boarding for more passengers. We need step-free access to the platform and level boarding everywhere so disabled passengers can travel with ease and confidence, instead of having to wait for Passenger Assistance.

Everyone wants to feel valued and respected by the people around them, but Disabled people are facing hostility. Disabled leader Mik Scarlet has been sharing what needs to change, to make a society where we're all included and valued for who we are.

Public transport should give us all the freedom to get where we need to go, when we need to. Removing time restrictions on disabled people’s bus passes is progress, but the pass only works if the whole journey works. This month we’ll be looking at what's still to do on our long list! #CTBM26

We all need the freedom to travel without worrying that transport will fail us. It means we can say “yes” to life. For many disabled people in the UK, that’s not our reality. Transport for All exists to break down barriers so we can all make the journeys we want. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4rZowmd

Thank you for being a tireless advocate on this issue @tomgordonld.bsky.social !! This is such great news, but we're sad we won't be getting a photo op with your cut out at Parliament 📸

Tom Gordon MP@tomgordonld.bsky.social

🥳 WE DID IT! 👏 🚌 My fantastic team ordered these giant cut-out frames for our parliamentary drop-in campaigning to scrap disabled bus pass time restrictions - and now it’s happening. ⏰ Disabilities don’t start at 9am, neither should disabled bus passes - and soon, they won’t!

Breaking news! The Government has announced that from April 2027, disabled people across England will be able to use our bus passes 24 hours a day. We've been campaigning with others to lift time restrictions for a while now, and are proud to be part of that movement for change.

Getting from A to B easily should be something we can all rely on. For many disabled people, taxis and Private Hire Vehicles (PHVs), are vital for getting to work, appointments, and essential services because buses, trains and even our streets shut us out.

We raised those issues in Parliament when we gave evidence to the Transport Committee on taxis and PHVs last year. The resulting report, Raising the Standard, recommends clear actions to make more accessible cabs available, and to deal with illegal and discriminatory practices.

Our Adviceline will have limited cover for two weeks from 22 July until 5 August. Responses will take longer than usual during this period, although we will get back to people as quickly as we can. Thanks for your patience and understanding while we're working with reduced staffing.
