Every day that goes by the case for war with Iran for the U.S. gets dumber and dumber. The press is not hard enough on the admin about this. The GOP spineless. Too many Dems way too concerned about AIPAC lobby money It’s all so pathetic and infuriating.

Donald Trump has been extremely net-negative for Bitcoin adoption, positive legislation, and growth of the asset/use cases for individuals, the industry, and global adoption A short, medium, and long term fail by the industry and big crypto money behind the admin 🧵

But I feel things will continue to be hostile for quite some time. While folks have good reason to be upset with the Gensler SEC and Biden admin, to go all in on Trump was a massive mistake. We’re going to pay the price for that.

Should people educate themselves on bitcoin and see that it shouldn’t be this political prop? Yes. Does that mean I’m happy Trump made this harder and all hut impossible for potentially a slight majority of Americans. No, I’m pissed. This was a huge setback. Period.

And I think most business leaders including those in crypto would agree they would have rather worked with a Harris admin than the trade offs being made for dealing with a sporadic, vindictive, corrupt Trump admin where pay to play is the name of the game and he can dump you whenever he’d like.

Many folks are continuing to try to educate about bitcoin, companies like @blocks @CashApp doing I think great work to try to show Bitcoin as this useful and appealing thing for savings and money and strip the political narratives from it

And all I’m trying to say is tying the industry and the perception of bitcoin in the U.S. to this admin — an admin hellbent on personal gain for the Trump family and with fascistic tendencies and leanings with white nationalist dog whistles…this was a fail

whatever progress that has been made or could have been made, Voters are demanding a reckoning of corruption and failures from this White House. Dems are in an even greater position to tackle this, & this could spell incredible setbacks for the industry and even the perception and image of bitcoin.

And above all, more and more everyday people and those growing more and more furious with the Trump admin around corruption, ICE lawlessness, investment in foreign wars and business, wall street kissing ass and donating to Trump’s personal pet projects They associate Bitcoin/crypto with all this

Those not previously educated on Bitcoin and the fact that it is not controlled by a CEO, Wall Street, or Trump, and that it has incredible use cases of money that can’t be stoped, savings for working class families, borderless payments, money for activists, etc

Bipartisan efforts around Bitcoin and crypto in DC continue to stall. While there has been some progress, it continues to breakdown more and more partisan as the GOP refuses to do anything to stand up to the Trump family corruption when it comes to crypto.

Trump’s family has made it a priority to profit off the White House and position. The crypto corruption has been massive — from CZ, to the Saudi’s, and crypto execs continuing to kiss trumps ass for personal favor, it’s creating a really gross image of Bitcoin/crypto for the average person.

The gains in crypto have been wiped. People assumed there would be “wins” like the U.S. buying Bitcoin, more investment in the industry, the end of persecution of open source developers and debanking (nope still happening). Nope.

The Bitcoin ETFs, massive flows to Bitcoin, came under the Biden admin. Gensler’s handling of prosecuting the industry was a net negative, and he was on his way out of control of the SEC anyway. But he also at least understood Bitcoin and was weary of the corrupt & lawlessness/debauchery in crypto.

Trump saw an opportunity to get hundreds of millions for his campaign from wealthy crypto industry donors. It worked. And he even freed Ross (which was great!). Since then the results have been pretty nonexistent and more roadblocks and setbacks then long term wins

Many in the industry and Bitcoiners feel the last admin was hostile and failed when it came to seeing the promise and opportunity in Bitcoin/crypto. I did as well. But I’d rather have an admin “hostile” to this than an admin hostile to America, Liberty, and captured by corruption.

Bitcoin is a neutral, open, permissionless monetary system This is what makes it so great as resistance money. No pedo-bankers/institutions required. Truly peer to peer when held and used in self custody (which is easy!)

Real question Bluesky. I am a former progressive who really thinks our government has grown too big, and powerful and away from the founders intent. There is too much room for error. I identity as a libertarian socialist/anarchist now. Anyone else feel this?

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

We’ve got a bit of a refocus brewing for TPB. Stay tuned — but mission remains the same Show bitcoin as money for the people and social good.

Our hearts break for Minneapolis, lives lost & families shattered 💔 We aim to show that Bitcoin is the people’s money and provides incredible social good use cases. To that end, we plan to issue direct grants/funding for families affected, and resistance grants. Stay tuned.

I still don’t get how “the resistance” doesn’t understand that A) you need to fucking toughen up and exercise your first and second amendment rights B) use resistance money which is bitcoin Still thinking asking for permission from and giving the government more control is a good idea?

I warned so many progressive friends to stop giving the federal govt more charge and oversight and surveillance of everything because Trump may be back or “your guy” may not win. Now look what is happening!

The reality to grapple with her in Trump 2.0 is how did we get here? Those who voted for him of course, but also the failed leadership from democrats the past decade, and most of all Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Joe for not dropping out and Kamala for running on a no change campaign. Shame on you

I mean ICE officers have called those simply filming “domestic terrorists” so under Miller’s definition here 1st and 4th amendment rights are violence against ICE! Miller is a terrible liar and incredibly unlikable person, but good luck thinking Americans are stupid.

It's for underbanked Black Americans, North Korean and Ukrainian refu-gees, Venezuelan farmers suffering under hyperinflation, and whistleblowers like Julian Assange and Edward Snowden. Bitcoin is resistance money.

Bitcoin is the most progressive tool on the planet It’s the peoples’ money oligarchs can’t fuck with. Censorship resistant, permissonless, borderless, fully open and accessible to anyone on the planet. When will progressives realize this? ✊🏻⚡️

Detaching Bitcoin from oligarchy narratives is how we get progressives on board. Too many lump Bitcoin into the oligarchy, dark crypto money, trump crypto corruption bucket. Couldn’t be further from the truth - Bitcoin is the people’s money.

Donald Trump has pardoned Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. Binance has been a major supporter of Trump's crypto projects, and Trump has already made millions after Binance accepted a $2 billion investment from an Emirati fund denominated in the Trump family's USD1 stablecoin.

ICE is beating up and detaining citizens for several days and sometimes weeks with no charges. The Trump admin is blowing up boats (with people) in the Caribbean without due process or sufficient cause And the vast majority of Americans seem to not care. That’s a major problem.

How a Democrat engages with Bitcoin is a litmus test It says can you speak and engage with the future? Can you engage a younger vote? Can you combat Trump while also engaging on emerging technology as a non partisan, winning issue? It’s not just about Bitcoin. Be smart.

The Democrats will find it increasingly hard to win while Trump is in power. Full stop. Despite Trump not being favorable, many of his policies extreme, the Democrats continue to operate from a place of fear and no direction. Voters feel that. Voters don’t trust Dems!

I don’t like the language or assumption that a CBDC is a “public” option as many, particularly in media and western governments/politicians, are proposing. It’s not about the public (the people). It’s a government surveillance and control option.

If the government ceases to be by the people for the people Then let’s move on from it. I’m not sure I can still share Ezra Klein’s optimism of hope for good governance. Happy to be proven wrong…but the incentives aren’t there.
