This summer, we banned low-rent poll aggregation engagement farms from our Discord server. Didn’t need any further examples to back us up, but we sure got one tonight.

Just wanted to officially confirm that I have one of those kids who had to fly home from college in Canada for his first general election! We are so lucky to have him in our democracy and to be able to afford the ticket, but he hadn’t gotten his overseas application in in time !

This is going to be like Kornacki’s Kornackis

Q: Many feel you have not addressed the fact your son in law is a white supremacist influencer. What have you said to your family? COLLINS: That's my family OSSOFF: Imagine running for Senate while neo-Nazi propaganda is disseminated to an audience of millions from your home. That's Mike Collins.

Basically I am considering this like if we got to hold the 2020 Midterms in January 2009

The various Republican schemes for cheating have not just failed they have left candidates who are utterly incompetent campaigners! For ail the fears of Dem primary fights this is negative electoral Darwinism

The Downballot@the-downballot.com

A lot of Republicans in red states are simply not used to having to run serious general election campaigns. Now, suddenly, they have to—and the rust is *seriously* showing. On The Downballot podcast this week, @davidnir.com & @joesudbay.bsky.social spotlight just how unready Republicans look -->

Throw a few more logs on the fire!

The Downballot@the-downballot.com

Per Punchbowl today, GOP seats that "both parties privately agree are in deep, deep trouble." "Almost cooked already" (their words): #CA48, #IA01, #NE02, #NJ07 & #PA07 "Growing more difficult for Republicans but still within reach": #AZ06, #IA03, #OH07 & #PA10

Not to be both sidesy but i am going to say that a LOT of people could benefit from asking "am I walking cliché of what my adversary would say about me?"

also, the idea that Jewish New Yorkers -- the vast majority of whom are anti-Netanyahu and moreover have NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT THE STATE OF ISRAEL DOES -- are the equivalent of the ... French military in Algeria? what?

“Hope there’s not an election” is not a campaign plan!

The Downballot@the-downballot.com

Missouri Republicans spent months trying to stop voters from getting to weigh in on ballot measures to block their new gerrymander and restrict the legislature’s ability to interfere with citizen-backed ballot initiatives. They lost in court and have little time to put together actual campaigns.

Just pulling this skeet out that explains the 2006 miss

Daniel Donner@donnermaps.bsky.social

And then again in 2006, we see what may be the final stages of ideological realignment, with Texas and Florida shouldering a significant share of the blame, perhaps related to the connections of George W. Bush to those states.

I love anytime you get 80 years of midterm data to align! Especially when it augurs well for 2026

The Downballot@the-downballot.com

Oh yes, very much so. Dan's key insight was to plot the *change* in the national primary margin (from midterm to midterm) against the House vote. When you do that, something absolutely astonishing emerges. For the last *80* years, the two measures have closely tracked one another. Eight decades!

As we head into Yom Kippur, I really hope Jewish folks will use the time reflect on why many of us hear “Free Palestine” as a threat to our safety, and what we are revealing about ourselves by who ally ourselves with and what our notions of safety are.

So let’s use that judgment and reflection to this Yom Kippur. Let’s make ourselves uncomfortable on purpose, surrounded by our community. And may we all be sealed for a year of true freedom and safety, the kind that can only come from relationships with others and mutual commitments!

As we head into Yom Kippur, I really hope Jewish folks will use the time reflect on why many of us hear “Free Palestine” as a threat to our safety, and what we are revealing about ourselves by who ally ourselves with and what our notions of safety are.

There are some phrases that only trolls use, but Free Palestine is very much not one of them. In texting you want to avoid opting people out who don’t ask to be, because you lose that number forever (I leave you to decide how applicable that is )

2028 senate. Let’s assume Brown wins, Nixon loses this Nov so Brown instantly becomes our most vulnerable Dem. We have good pickup opportunities in WI/NC/AK defend NV/AZ/GA/PA Very real scenario at this point Dems could enter 2029 with near 60 seats

This is personally mortiying to me but not that electorally mortiying! i do note that Trump and Vance approval is plummeting. It does seem like Republicans are capturing more of the dwindling number of US Jews who approve of Netanyahu?

James Hell Brooks@kleinman.bsky.social

One of the few groups that have gotten more Republican since 2024 (Pres vote was 71-26) and even then we're still D +41
