#fluorescencefriday Astrocytes (red) and microglia (green) surround and “eat up” amyloid plaques. However, they lose the war. Alycia Crook’s paper just accepted in Glia reveals that increasing the activity of Gq selectively in astrocytes with DREADDs modulates plaque phagocytosis by both.

New from the #TRIDENT team: Amr Eed et al. linked cellular-resolution whole-CNS light-sheet imaging with mesoscopic awake-mouse MRI in the same animals. More pS129 α-synuclein meant more atrophy, weaker connectivity, and sensorimotor hypoactivation, pointing to a toxic role in PD and DLB.🧠 #NFRF
