🤔 Many researchers produce and publish despite the lack of funding, largely due to systemic biases in budget allocation. Shouldn’t evaluation panels take this reality into account?

🐦🏙️ Bird colours are changing in cities!
Dr. Janas (MIZ PAS) co-authored a study across 8 Polish cities showing that more urban “concreting” leads to duller, more variable yellow in Great Tits 💛, while Blue Tits have brighter tails - yet melanin colours stay unchanged. 🐦🪽

📣 Cities reshape ant diets 🐜🍬
An international team—Stukalyuk et al. (Ukraine), @tomerczaczkes.bsky.social (Germany) & @trigos-peral.bsky.social (Poland) found urban ants accept lower-sugar food than rural ones, likely adapting to different food sources. 👉 shorturl.at/W7bsm#City#Ants#Nutrition

A fruitful collaboration with Stanislav Stukalyuk and @tomerczaczkes.bsky.social#urbanization#nutrition#ants#food_sources
Urban ants are less picky than rural ants when it comes to sugar solution. Maybe the aphids in cities produce poorer honeydew, reflecting the stress they, or their tree hosts are under?
