Oh damn. I met him man years ago at the infamous "KrogerCon" in Houston. He was a very nice man, who didn't get all the credit he deserved for his acting. His Bester in Bab5 is a wonderful performance. A rarity: a villain with a sense of humor.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Sorry to hear the ruckus that T Kingfisher's BG novel doesn't fit fan's various head canons. People shouldn't think everything should fit their head canon. I, on the other hand, get angry when producers don't follow their OWN canon previously formulated.

Hitler rarely visited the Eagles Nest. He didn't like it. He stayed at the Berghof lower down on the mountain. Allies bombed it, and SS set it on fire in retreat. Then razed to the ground. I say same with this. Raze it to the ground and only put up an interpretive sign. And a Synagogue :)

An enormous fire all but destroyed an infamous Nazi-era guesthouse known as the Eagle’s Nest in southern Germany, according to the police, who said on Saturday that a man had been arrested in connection with the blaze.

31 years ago this evening I was wearing a 19 th century shell jacket, riding boots, and saber to marry the woman I’m still in love with. 40 years ago we started dating. Brought together by the Dark Side of the Force at Worldcon.

American Airlines cancelled our early afternoon flight early this morning, and later cancelled that for an evening flight. If we make our DFW connection we get home close to midnight rather than 5 pm. Thanks for nothing, American.

In today's AI slop grifting, Martha got an email from a senior editor at Macmillan, interested in her short story that Tor bought for their webpage. Tor, a division of Macmillan. Add "not understanding corporate conglomerates" to their list of ignorance. And people trust AI for health questions?

In the Jim Caviezel movie "Frequency," he talks to his dead father (Dennis Quaid) in the past, using the same radio his father used in the past. They use it like a transceiver. It's a Heathkit SB-301, which is a receiver only. It can't transmit.

The best ethics reform possible is Donald Trump in prison for the rest of his life. Maybe you could share a cell?

NBC News@nbcnews.com

Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel calls on Democratic lawmakers to set aside plans to impeach President Trump if they win a majority in the House, pushing them instead to pass an ethics reform package.

Well the states attorneys general has sold us out and have come to an agreement to allow Paramount/CBS/whatever else to merge with Warner Bros. Somewhere Teddy Roosevelt is spinning in his grave.

Hegseth also rallied the troops with Napoleon at Waterloo, with Travis at the Alamo, with Hitler in the defense of Berlin, and told Goliath "don't worry, it's just a skinny kid with low testosterone."

I go on record as an "AI Denier." It doesn't exist. What they are calling AI now bears no relation to the AI being worked on by pioneers like Marvin Minsky and John McCarthy at MIT and Stanford. It's all predictive text, built upon work they have stolen from authors.

Today will probably be the worst day. New splint is half the length and lighter, so she got elbow movement back. We all hope and pray she recovers soon so I don't have to continue doing the litter boxes. And no, no governor module installed (sigh) but no arm cannons either. 2/2

Saw her in person once, on the studio tram tour at Disney's Hollywood MGM studio tour. We saw through a glass into a studio where she was sitting talking to two other people about a proposed series. We only saw the back of her head, but it was still Dolly! 2/2

Happy Birthday to Murderbot himself. It's Alexander Skarsgard's birthday today, one day after mine, though I'm a bit older. Hippy Birdday, Alex. ART's surgical alterations have taken at least 10 years off ;)

Finally saw first ep of Lanterns. So far I hate it immensely. I've had it with dark, damaged, asshole superheroes. Same reason I hate Alan Moore's stuff. Maybe they'll start running the old 60's Sat Morning cartoon version. THAT was Green Lantern.

The wife returns from Bubonicon at Midnight tonight. Still need to get the biker gang to leave (which they will once the van arrives to take the strippers home) and have the hazmat service start working on the place.

Reading the original article in Nature tells me that in spite of having a PhD that made him Dean of Science, he neglected to receive a full university education. If he can't write well enough to convey his own thoughts correctly, he's an uneducated person. He should ask for a refund.

Richard Van Noorden@richvn.bsky.social

Dean of Science at Stellenbosch University writes that although AI generates almost all the words for his articles (including this one): "AI did almost all of the writing. I remain the expert and the thought leader behind the piece." www.nature.com/articles/d44...
