It's okay to never be able to purchase a home, and to reject home ownership as an aspiration. The real goal is housing security. To that end, robust tenants' rights and rent control laws are arguably just as important as new construction projects and interest rate reductions.

You might not think that a band called Animal Piss, It’s Everywhere would have written one of the year’s most moving tunes about the bonds of friendship. But you’d be wrong! doomandgloomfromthetomb.tumblr.com/post/8315469...

Fun activity: record seven tracks of guitar feedback. Send tracks to a stereo bus. Output bus left to a Vibro Champ, bus right to an Ampeg Gemini II. Adjust tremolo speeds and intensities as desired. Put an SM 57s in front of each amp and hit record

They're going to try to convince us that "affordability" requires austerity and deregulation i.e. more of the same. Don't fall for it.

What’s the secret to a higher income? Is it working longer hours? Shamelessness? Willingness to exploit? A relish for hurting others? Something else??

This thread is basically perfect

I’m sorry to have to be the bad guy here but we need to recognize that we live in a compressed air thrusters world now. If you’re not finding ways to teach the critical use of compressed air thrusters in your classroom, you’re setting your students up to fail when you could be setting them up to fly

I keep seeing headlines like "X percentage of people making [very sufficient amount of money] are living paycheck-to-paycheck." Yeah, if you're putting money in a high-yield savings account with every paycheck, that will happen...it's hardly the same as having no savings or assets!

Watched Candyman (1992) last night and now I'm wondering if Clive Barker and Hunter & Garcia were all drawing from the same folk legend?

One of the most bizarre Jedi mind tricks universities have pulled of is convincing students that required texts can only be procured from their hapless university bookstore rather than...literally anywhere else in on earth that sells books

Hung out with Tan Cologne in the sauna today and lemme tell ya, for those 15 minutes we were the two hottest bands in town (rimshot)

Saw The Burning (1981) last night. This was the only horror movie my parents and older sisters wouldn’t let me watch when I was a kid and now I know why!

Watched Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026) last night. Ambitious, self-aware horror film with great performances by Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson. Would recommend!

Watched the Green Day road trip movie Nimrods last night. Wasn’t bad. Their music isn’t really my thing, but the songwriting and melodicism is undeniable. Plus, Billy Joe has completed his transformation into an eccentric rich guy.

Watched a blurry sound-off video of Bernie Sanders introducing The Strokes and my first thought was "Dang, Julian looks rough."

There used to be a vegetarian burger mix called Nature’s Burger. But if you think about it, all burgers are Nature’s Burger

Ah, to be 19 years old again, trying to learn Andy Cohen's solos on a 1971 Gibson SG in a crappy dorm room

The question asked most frequently of us, either via electronic mail or in person at the merch table during the miraculous run of Silkworm reunion shows is: “When will Comedy Minus One be reissuing Firewater?” The answer is December 4th, 2026. 2xLP + CD. www.comedyminusone.com/2026/09/24/e...

Learned that this is due to an “aesthetic” called “dark academia” that started on tumblr and recently migrated to TikTok. 🤔

I'm currently reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt, and anytime I have it out in public someone comes up to me and tells me it's their favorite book. These people span all ages, genders, and vibes. What the hell is going on? It's enjoyable enough but nothing life-changing

Just discovered an Australian Van Morrison disciple named Richard Clapton. He made a bunch of amazing records in the 70s. People need to know about this!

In a recent interview, Shooter Jennings said that playing live was always tough for him because he'd be stressed all day that the show would go badly, but if it went well, he'd be so relieved that he'd party too hard. Highly relatable content, my man.
