"What exactly do you expect Carney to do / not do?" A thread of 50 specific items (with links, and not in any particular order), a large fraction of which are in line with warning signs we pointed out early on and were told to be quiet, wait and see, or trust his 4D chess acumen. 1/??

The iconic water bomber was invented in Canada and transformed the way wildfires are fought. Now, a Calgary-based aerospace company wants to sell 50 new water bombers to the federal government, but experts question whether it’s the right answer to Canada’s worsening wildfire crisis.

Tariffs between Canada and the US have now been normalized. It’s just a matter of their levels. No one is talking about the USMCA and its renewal anymore. If Canada ends up making a deal that includes tariffs, then Trump’s coercive approach will have won the day.

It must be nice to be comfortable believing "Hey, the world is bad and we gotta put Canada's economy* first" or "Well, if we don't sell fossil fuels to everyone, someone else will". A liveable planet and human rights seen as luxuries we can't afford. Morally very convenient. * Foreign corporations

A more interesting question is, which countries would folks like this NOT defend Carney dealing with on behalf of Brookfield/Cameco/etc.?

Moralizing leftists complain about Carney's trade negotiations with Türkiye because of our 'values'... ...yet are unable to point to nations that Canada could trade with that have the correct 'values'. Unless you include nations that also support colonization, imperialism, war, genocide, et al

Mark Carney might be the most popular politician in all of Canada right now - but using that popularity to ram-through highly controversial changes is not only arrogant, I think it's short-sighted if he's actually looking to build something durable.

Variant update: PJ.2.1 is the fastest as of today followed closely by ST.1 (XFG+435S+441I+680Y) with a triple orf3a mutation. Then TA.1 sublineages . Then NB.1.8.1+420N+445P sublineages which got 679R (TM.1 and undesignated RK.1.2) . Then TK.1 and RV.1.1.1 branches w 680F or 681H

I understand that this kind of propaganda works on a lot of people. But for everyone else, this *obviously* has nothing to do with fighting climate change and everything to do with manufacturing consent for fossil fuels and Carney's disastrous environmental policies.

Running pro-energy sector ads is not the mandate of Environment and Climate Change Canada. Carney is also gutting federal science agencies and trashing environmental protections. Carney is worse than Harper.

It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.

Carney and Smith will be thrilled.

WHO introduced Greek letter nicknames for the most notable COVID variants in part to prevent people from referring to specific regions. They stopped at Omicron in 2021. They didn't like that we used informal nicknames to fill the gap. Now I keep seeing articles about the "American variant". 🤷

It is, fundamentally, an exercise of choosing the lesser evil, over and over and over again, so that the total amount of evil in the system decreases over time. And you must keep doing it, because - since evil is easy - good is easily reversed.

Ok but have we tried more pipelines and data centres?

Hailstorms are becoming larger and more frequent, especially in the Great Plains. As the climate warms, thunderstorms will create stronger updrafts that hold hailstones in the air for longer allowing them to grow bigger — and fall harder. https://wapo.st/4yI2XIS
