President Trump, never one to pinch pennies on anything shiny and new, has spent millions of taxpayer dollars on pet construction projects around Washington, D.C. They’re not going well.

The Trump administration has signed an oil deal with a Venezuelan energy baron who has faced money-laundering investigations in three countries. ProPublica reviewed a copy of the 18-page agreement.

“We don’t want to impeach if we can’t secure a conviction in the Senate.” No presidential impeachment ever has. That isn’t the point. The House’s job is to say: unacceptable. You are not fit to hold this office. Impeachment serves a purpose. 🏛️ @flareusa.bsky.social

There's no doubt that @aoc.bsky.social has changed the trajectory of American politics. Grateful to have her with us on the ground across Michigan to strengthen our movement to get money out of politics, put money in pockets, and pass Medicare for All.

Many people try to retire but realize they're not going to be able to make it on mere social security, despite having paid into it for a lifetime and bankrolling the likes of trump elites.

They could be working to enrich their lives more than there pocketbooks. An elderly life is often one of terrible loneliness. I am 93 and this is my problem. I write books and use a computer a lot to make my life better with something to look forward to every day.

You mean regarding the work preferences? I’m thinking the 75 year old working in a retail store - or wherever - because they can’t afford food/medicine. No choice 🤷‍♂️

SSI pays a max of $994 a month. In many states you can't even rent a ROOM for that. The waiting lists for Section 8 housing are years long if they are accepting applications. Now cuts to Food stamps. MAGAs just want us all to die if we aren't "productive".

Given how poorly Walmart Employees are paid, is it not time to shop at Costco or Small to medium Businesses?

Spoke to a woman recently hired at Walmart last month. Part of her onboarding was classes showing her how to apply for reduced utility rates and government subsidies she would qualify for. Minimum wage at this store is $14@ hr ... but she only gets 20 hrs a week. This is sick.

I can't name them now, but there is a large regional grocery chair that doesn't allow their employees who have handicapped plated or placards to use handicapped spaces, whether they are elderly or handicap doesn't matter. It is unconscionable🤬

The electoral college was created by men who believed that they were better equipped to govern than the people. They believed that the people were more likely to vote for despots. Turns out that the electoral college is the most likely to vote for them.

Don’t get me started! I could be here all day! In the late 70’s, when the economy could have been starting to recover, the Republican solution was to kneecap education, the middle class, and the unions. And of course, it was all in the name of making themselves richer. It’s still the point.

In America, you would have been demonized as a teacher for being a teacher. You would have been blamed by the republicans for being the cause of the destruction of American society. The religious leaders would pile on to make sure your salary was low and your classroom underfunded.

I’m 77 and still working because I want to. Many elderly continue to work to maintain contact with others, have sense of being helpful and needed. Sure, many work because they need the extra income as well. I’m not quitting until my spouse says to or my employer makes me.

Just saw two elderly men working register & bagging at a grocery store. Wrist braces & obvious arthritis. Agreed it is cruel & shouldn’t be needed🤬

I recall speaking with check out bagger who shared she was able to get by on SS after her husband died... as long as worked. But she, said her rent doubled and she didn't know what she was going to survive.

With a damn tribute “ARCH” blocking the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery and its view to the Lincoln Memorial. The arch will be under construction for years with the construction noise interrupting the solemn ceremony of interring our nation’s heroes who gave the greatest sacrifice.

I'm in a blue state. I saw a woman working at the liquor store that fits that. She started complaining about the prices going up with one of her customers, and said, "DAMN DEMOCRATS!" she wasn't kidding. Little did she know that that is the reason she is still working.

Except that's not true. 98% of elected Democrats voted to reverse 50 years of Reaganomics and put money in every community in America to do things people want and need. EVERY REPUBLICAN opposed it. Only TWO Democrats opposed it. They're gone now, chased from power. Vote blue 💙
