"between fujos" is an awesome essay because it's genius and insightful and also totally made me feel seen (years before i got together with my gf i wrote them a custom three thousand word moshang fic according to the following prompt)

btw.... soft launching my next project here. i'm going to make a 5 year anniversary edition of "good kid" aka the project known mostly as "the scum villain freud zine." it was my first big zine project, and i'm so excited to show you all my growth!

the bulk of the content will be the same or similar to the first edition, so if you were around in early 2022, probably take a pass. i’ll be doing light revision, adding a few short essays of commentary as well as more art and fancier design. if you’d like to blurb it (we’re going PRETENTIOUS) lmk!

the kerfuffle over sexy times with wangxian feels so kind of nostalgic now. a relic of a pre-generative ai time... they really had to express their hate through manually typing new words* * note that the author was like. bigoted. so i'm not that nostalgic

breaks my heart when people respond to zine scams with long threads of "advice" boiling down to 1) don't make zines and 2) if you do, professionalize. genuinely think my advice would be the complete opposite. go smaller, go shittier, go more diy, and all of that will keep it manageable.

it's almost five years since i wrote my first zine. over a thousand zines sold later... i have found my practice to be so transformative. i made this post not to bash fandom anthologies (i've been running yaoi zine for years longposter.neocities.org/yaoi) but to hopefully make them more accessible

i started as someone who honestly in retrospect seemed pretty likely to be a zine scammer (i was a mentally ill 22 year old selling fandom zines online with no experience in anything related). luckily zines are a field that you don't need any special skills for. the trick is to aim very low!
