ActBlue is gross, and represents everything wrong with the Democratic Party. A few years ago, I made donations to support candidates that I felt were very important to protecting this country. This includes a Democratic candidate running for the Supreme Court of the state of Wisconsin. She won!

The Democratic Party should have values about how it raises funds. And ultimately, there are ways to compete with billionaires that don’t require grifting. That is strategy. I can assure you that providing personal information to individuals that have not opted-in is not helping your cause.

The Democratic Party should recognize that ActBlue is awful, and it reflects a mindset where money collection matters over policy and good candidates. If someone donates for one campaign, their personal information should not be sent to like everyone else running under the Democratic Party

Every time I receive a text message from Act Blue, I report it as spam. I will never donate to anyone who uses Act Blue. I do not want my information use the way that big tech uses my personal information. There are other vehicles for getting the story about candidates, and I will willingly donate.

Unfortunately, after a few similar donations, I must’ve been added to some list that was passed around to every Democratic candidate running in every state. I am constantly bombarded with ActBlue spam, looking for money from me.
