I try really hard not to be a judgemental person, but when someone who I already find annoying and obnoxious says that they didn't make it to class last week because they were at a Ye concert there really is no hope left.

I would hardly consider myself an expert on Greenland, but I have learned a lot about the people, their culture, the history, land, politics, and much more. Few things leave me more furious than hearing MAGAts repeating false talking points and acting as if they knew it was inhabited before Trump.

Many years ago I remember listening to Rush Limbaugh talk about the Democrat party at the time. I want to say this was around the time Bush got re-elected. The jist of his discussion was that the Democrats had revealed themselves as liberals, and they would never recover from that.

What Americans identify as "leftist" today, is just a Democrat of the Carter era. When they say liberal, they mean a Clinton or Obama. Meanwhile, the Democrat party just keeps chasing Republicans to the right. All the while, our leftists barely clear the center line.

Fast forward some years later, and the word "leftists" came up. Those evil leftists. As I've learned more about international politics, it's dawned on me what this truly reflects. Joe Biden was barely left of George Bush, and there are plenty of Democrats today that are more conservative than him.

Last night I read the comment section of a song by an Irish punk band with the hook "fuck all Nazi scum" in which most commenters were debating the band being liberal or conservative. The commenters' understanding of those words aside, I'd say most of them missed the plot of the song and punk music.

It's interesting to hear someone defend ICE because they have family in law enforcement. It's even more interesting to see their face when they try to compare it to negative things said about the military and you respond "the only thing worse than a dirty cop is a dirty service member."

I've seen a lot of people trying to downplay ICE by comparing it to what is occurring in Iran. When they do this, they're revealing they would protesters be handled here how they would be handled there.

For no particularly reason I sometimes wonder if there were any German service members watching what was happening around them and struggling to cope mentally with the question of whether or not they could or should make it to retirement. Again, no particular reason.

People will argue that you can't compare American homelessness to homelessness in Scandinavian countries as if homeless people just manifest here and it's not a symptom of systemic failures.

The closer I get to the end of the semester, the more ready I am to... Spend four weeks watching hundreds of YouTube videos with the intention of taking four CLEPs on US and western civilization history.

Majoring in a climate and energy related topic gives you an opportunity to look at a lot of graphs about public opinion. No matter what the topic, the politically independent 35-54 group almost always finds its way to 50%.

I am a naturally pessimistic person as it pertains to American politics. While last night's major races seem to show a positive trend, I also look at details I find concerning. Andrew Cuomo, despite prior sexual harassment cases, took 41% of the vote in NYC. How did that many people vote for him?

Registering for my spring classes and realizing there is an outside chance of finishing my BA in fall 2026. This will mostly be dependent on what classes are available over the summer.

I've walked over 60 miles in the last three weeks and have probably had five days over 1000 calories and none over 1500. We took Jaxcen to Legoland which made today a cheat day. After consuming over 4000 calories I decided I had to go for a walk no matter how late we got home.

Today I had a MAGAt argue with me that the nearly 1000 inextinguishable underground coal fires burning worldwide is a reason we should utilize exclusively fossil fuels for energy demand. I told him I've worked in nuclear power for 16 years, have studied energy and sustainability heavily...

And that he really couldn't have come to a more incorrect conclusion. From there he wanted to argue with me about energy production. One of their fundamental cornerstone beliefs is that they know more than people who could be considered experts in their fields. Don't waste your time or energy.

If you ever hear a conservative talk about how mismanaged California is just respond with "Absolutely! It's ridiculous that they spend $88 billion a year subsidizing red states! What a waste!"

As a NASCAR fan there's no shortage of stupidity for me to hear/read, but trying to explain to people that corporations buying the land from underneath every major racetrack in California in the last 50 years isn't "California communism" definitely ranks nearly the top.

There is no greater way to create personal freedom than a microgrid powered by whatever form of renewables works best for your area. If you want even more freedom, drive an EV. You have now completely removed your dependence on others for two of your most important needs: power and transportation.

I just wrote a paper for a 101 class that will probably be a basis for my MA thesis someday. Shifting to renewable energies would allow native tribes to vastly increase their independence and personal sovereignty. It begs the question of why aren't more conservatives in favor of it?

It's basically impossible to ditch Facebook. UAF offers several three-day, one credit courses that are valuable for degree and occupational endorsement. Since these are usually posted outside of the class scheduling windows, guess where they are best advertised for remote students. Yup.
