I put some gloss varnish on the metal parts yesterday evening. With the sun coming out for a minute I can actually see my work! Pure metal paints always look better but sentry needs to be durable to survive the dust in my room 😂

Alrighty 3 hours later I got a silver edge! The reference pictures showed that each panel had a slightly different shade so I tried to imitate that. Not sure how visible it will be under the gloss coat but so far I am pleased 😁 #histscalemodels

I'm pondering for days now if I want to preshade the Sentry. As I understand it, people do not preshade airline models but it's a giant monotonous 1 color surface 🤔 Honestly I think I will just try and if it looks bad I can still just cover it with the base color 🤷

Successful weekend, everything is primed 😁 Next up I want to paint all the metal edges to get the nasty glitter out of the way, then mask them off and fix the overspray with more primer (or so my plan)

I reached the underside! (I‘m so glad I bought that extra long hose for the compressor)

I glued on the antennas. Actually I glued on ALL the stuff that likes to break off like the very dramatic wingtip antennas 😃👍 I also masked off the clear parts so she is now ready for priming!

So here comes the next choice: Sentry’s upper and underside is covered in tiny antennas, normally I would attach these last for obvious reasons… But the way heller choose to attach them one side looks good but the other… not 😑 Do I glue them on now to address the „bad side“?

Ok 24 hours later the rubber like texture of that varnish remains 😅 Now that I think back, I believe this was the reason I switched to polyurethane varnish in the first place. A shame I really liked that shine of this one…

When you put your 1/72 plane, that is totally not the size of an 1/72 plane, on your 1/72 plane stand… It works kind of 😅 Also put metal pins into the connecting points of the radar (they did not look very trustworthy on their own)

The sentry is so dusty it would actually be best to wash it… if it had not already painted wheel bays, holes everywhere and would fit into my sink… I could take it with me under the shower… 😂

There are many great things about Ace Combat 8 but one of the best might be that I actually feel motivated to work on "that" Project again 😂
