in given, one of ugetsu’s first appearances shows him playing sibelius. akihiko narrates that ugetsu is someone who feels emotions deeply, “as though just the act of living pained him” but buries it deep. makes me think that the choice of sibelius is sooo fitting for him. it rly sounds like that!!

the tchaikovsky violin concerto has always sounded like “love” to me and now that i’m reading abt the circumstances around its composition im like. yeah. damn. no wonder. tchaikovsky being afraid to dedicate it to his friend because it felt Too Scandalous… 🥲

step 1 failed. instead tried to play cello again. oh my god this shit is so hard how did i do this as a teenager (the answer is that i had a period of time where i was genuinely fixated on it and practiced very hard. then i stopped caring nearly as much. adhd moment)
