Today I got my copies of James Islington’s Licanius Trilogy deluxe edition. Love the look and feel. And my maps as the end papers. I did these in 2016. My maps are so different today, but this one holds up I feel.

Man!! I love having very good creative days!! I’m so pleased with how both these maps are coming along. And I have another interesting map coming up. It’s for the sequel to The Only Way Out is Up

Went to the studio to work today. Wanted to get the first draft of a map to the client a week early. And had a couple moments of inspiration along the way and elevated the ideas for the map. I think the client is going to be very pleased. The image is something I should finish.

The show Top Chef is the closest a I’ll ever get to watching sports. I’ve watched every season multiple times. I’m kinda like that. I can watch a show over and over and still enjoy it. Top Chef is just the best competition show. The intensity, the skill, the drama!

There was a time when the husband and I did big fancy sit down dinner parties. This was for the Double Secret Dinner Club, where none of the guest knew who the other guests were.

Got a message about someone selling one of my maps on Etsy. It wasn't just one, it was several. And of course, Etsy doesn't make it easy to report those. Haven't been on Etsy in a long time, but man is it terrible.

Want a fun series to read? How about these from author Christopher Buehlman? Out now is the third installment the Thrice Bound Fool. I had the pleasure of doing the maps for these novels.

Fantasy fans of D&D and The Witcher will love comedian Christopher Buehlman’s irreverently funny, epic high fantasy series Blacktongue. Get it now!

These are some of the oldest art I still have in my possession. Because who would want either of these hanging on their walls? Does this explain anything to you about me? Lol.

Cleaned out two closets this weekend filled with all kinds of things. Found a bunch of my old artwork. Stuff I had forgotten about. Here's one I'm going to frame and hang in the studio.

Cleaning/purging the storage closet today. Found the original pieces of art we missed placed years ago. Along with a lot of movie poster prints, other prints and some of my original traditional art.

Go to your camera roll and search boat and then post a picture of a boat you like. From my trip to Bangkok and the two hours boat tour we took that was amazing

Go to your camera roll and search “boat” and then post a picture of a boat you like.

I want a law passed that all cables must have the product name either printed or attached to that it came with. It’s ridiculous they don’t already. Big Cabel is behind it I’m sure.

For me, there's no better feeling that working with a new Art/Creative Director, and having them be thrilled they hired me, and that I'm really delivering on the project. It allows me to continue with even more confidence.

Since this map is in color, and the end papers, I'm going full illustration on it. And it's probably one of my most ambitious maps. So many trees, so many tiny details. I think it will well be worth it.

Also, since this is for endpapers, I needed to make sure the files were set up right, in terms of dimensions and size, trim, bleed. Thankfully a background as a production artist for textbooks comes in handy. Also, sent a progress file to the AD, who replied it's GORGEOUS. So, happy right now.

Bold Declaration. I'm going to attempt to organize all the images and files on my computer. My working files, they are in good order. I do that as I work. But my personal stuff. Gurl it is all over the place. Same image in multiple spots.

Though I’ve been doing maps for novels for 12+ years. I still worry if I’m going in the right direction with a new art director and author. So I’m always relieved when I get this kind of response. And a sneak peek at some of the map border.

Good morning Bluesky. Here's a bunch of sketches from 2008. When I used to have a day job. Ridding the subway was such a great way to see interesting people and sketch them.

Something that I never thought of happening, but I'm really happy it did happen. Anytime I see a post about My Favorite Books, or Books to read. There are always a few titles that I did the maps for. Creating visuals for an authors world is very fulfilling for me creatively.

Good Morning! Here's a whole bunch of random characters I drew. You know what's a good source for character studies? English movies and period pieces. Watch them and you will just get a world of interesting people to sketch.

Working on the border of a map, for a Romantasy. The first two options felt more, clip art, even though I came up with the design myself. It's because the pattern went all the way around. The third one is the one I'm going to show the client when the rough is done.

First time I've been called a GOAT about anything! Here's some of the maps I've done for Richards novels. He's got a new one coming out soon, the third book in the Great Silence series!

Richard Swan@richardswanauthor.bsky.social

You are the map goat Tim, I'd do literally unlimited maps if they'd let me 😂

Here are some illustrations I did like 20+ years ago. Some are traditional medium, some are early digital, some are a combination of both. The only one I still know exists is the Skeleton, and it hangs in my studio.

I’m so happy for Richard. It’s great to see an authors work really finding an audience. Congrats again!

Richard Swan@richardswanauthor.bsky.social

Pleased to report I have been acquired! 4 more Sova novels set 150 years after The Great Silence to end the entire 10 book Empire of the Wolf sequence (a standalone and a final trilogy).

Another map done and delivered and crossed off the list today! There are several maps being worked on at the same time. Today I’m working on Foredance, I want to get the roughs out tomorrow. Then it’s back to the Trove maps for a round of revisions.
