What a lot of people don't understand is, Canada is the US's biggest customer. Canada's commodities are in high demand all over the world. They will take this opportunity to build a broader based economy and ship finished product derived from home grown commodities.

Fun fact. The US produces 16mbl oil/day and consumes 20. Canada supplies about 5/day of the shortfall. Similar story for gas and most other commodities Canada ship to the US. All at discounts to international spot pricing. The US needs a trade deal with Canada. Canada has the leverage.
