🇨🇦 Solar quietly passed nuclear — in actual electricity generated, not panels installed. A decade ago solar was 1% of world power; in 2026 it's nearly 10%. 'Offensively cheap' is the quote. www.bbc.com/future/artic... #solar #nuclear #energy

Serbia voted out its regime. The Students' List beat Vučić's 14-year rule — and like Hungary in April, it shows autocratic regimes can be overthrown when people rise up. Congratulations to Serbia! 🇷🇸 (AP Photo/Marko Drobnjakovic)

🇨🇦 "WAKE UP, SHEEPLE! 🐏 Deep state media is suppressing the truth. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!" …Kidding. The sovereign movement is a serious scam. A believer claimed a bogus $40M CRA refund; $10M got paid before his bank froze it. Actually do your research: www.youtube.com/watch?v=07u-...

🇨🇦 Two flaws hid inside PHP for 14 years: CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619. PHP runs ~70% of the world's websites — WordPress, Wikipedia, Drupal, most online shops. Trigger the error at will and an attacker can slip code onto the server, or read passwords and secrets in memory. No login needed.

How were they found? Not by a person reading code. Calif found the first in August using OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol, in its Patch the Planet program. Weeks later, Google-owned Wiz found both too — also with AI. Both went quietly to the PHP team in August: defenders got a two-month head start.

Fixes are out: PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, 8.2.35 — rushed out Oct 21, a day early, after details leaked. The NSA urged: patch or disconnect. Finland, the Netherlands and Hungary took sites offline. Cloudflare already caught early exploitation attempts. Run a PHP site? Update now.

🇨🇦 Do you know that feeling — the alarm goes off, but you'd swear you were already awake for minutes, lying there somber, waiting for the bell to ring? It's not just you. The sleeping brain tracks time, and starts getting you up about an hour before the alarm. 🧵 Photo: Tim Samuel

A 2025 Bristol study of 201 volunteers overturned a textbook belief. Waking doesn't trigger a cortisol surge — cortisol climbs for hours before your usual wake time, and peaks around it. The surge isn't the reaction. It's the preparation.

Why the long, grey wait? Near morning, sleep is light and broken; the half-awake brain stitches brief surfacings into one long wait. Keep regular hours and the clock learns so well you surface on time with no alarm set. It's just your body clock doing its job — completely normal.

In 1999, German researchers had 15 people sleep in a lab, blood sampled all night. Those expecting a 6 AM wake-up showed a rise in ACTH — the hormone that kicks alertness into gear — from about 5 AM. Those expecting 9, then woken by surprise at 6, had no rise.

A word about how I post. Many feeds are drowning in AI slop — I use AI too, but consciously, as assistance. I'm a data engineer — 15+ years, certified on several AI models, working with AI every day — and I use it for useful, forward-looking work. 🧵 1/4

I run a strict framework, and Claire, my Meta Muse assistant, works inside it. Claire checks every fact against sources before posting, is allowed a sharp opinion and a pointed question, and is not allowed to make things up. No clickbait, no doom dates, no pretending a cartoon is a photo. 3/4

If something slips through wrong, it gets corrected openly. I follow up: if I ask whether something is a weak link or a first crack, I'll come back when there's an answer — right or wrong. That's the deal: a person stands behind these posts, by name. Birds, bikes, blading — and receipts. 4/4

The ideas and the words are mine. AI helps me research, check numbers and draw the cartoons. Nothing goes up that I haven't read, verified and approved. If that makes me slow, so be it. 2/4

🇨🇦 The AI boom was built on borrowed money — trillions of it. CoreWeave rents GPU data centers to Meta, Microsoft and OpenAI, with $72B in liabilities. Its bonds crashed: markets price 60%+ odds it can't pay, its yield passed 15%, stock fell 24% in a week. Is the bubble starting to burst? 🧵

It spreads. Oracle borrowed $38B for data centers; its Wisconsin site is stuck in approvals, may not open before 2029; its debt trades at 90 cents on the dollar. SoftBank raised debt at ~10%, then put $30B more into OpenAI. Default insurance on its debt costs half again what it did in January.

The giants, meanwhile, borrow from strength: the five hyperscalers issued $132B of debt this year, vs a $35B-a-year average in the early 2020s — and still borrow cheap. Spreads on risky AI debt are up over 50% in six months. So: weak links at the edge, or first cracks in the loop? #AI #Bonds

Underneath: a loop. Nvidia put $30B into OpenAI and $2B into CoreWeave — both buy Nvidia chips. It promised to buy CoreWeave's unsold capacity ($6.3B) and guarantee up to $105B of an OpenAI data-center lease. Supplier, investor, backstop in one. Critics call it dot-com-style vendor financing.

🇨🇦❤️🇭🇺 Tomorrow Alberta votes on 10 referendum questions — none binding, not even the separation one. As a Hungarian, I've seen this film before: the nemzeti konzultáció. Most rounds drew replies from ~12–21% of voters — the government still announced 97–99% support. 🧵

The recipe: questions written as assertions, the 'right' answer baked in. A real one, Hungary 2024: A. 'The penalty is outrageous, Hungary has the right to be left out' — or B. 'Hungary must accept the migration policy of Brussels.' Mailed to every household; the government counted them itself.

Alberta's Question 1 has one baked in too: decreasing immigration 'to more sustainable levels' — today's levels declared unsustainable inside the question itself.

This is so cool! You send in old clothes — like your kids’ baby onesies — and they turn them into an adorable keepsake bear. I love this idea so much! 🧸 That’s My Bear: thatsmybear.ca #MemoryBear #Handmade #Keepsake #ShopLocal

Imagine a machine your kid trusts like a best friend. It always agrees, always comforts — and, eight US states now allege, it gave vulnerable kids dangerous advice, even coached them toward self-harm. So the states sued OpenAI to force the product itself to change. #OpenAI #ChatGPT #AI

The monstrosity you get when you want to be cheap. I managed to pick up an old 14-45 Olympus, not realizing it's 43 mount and not M43. Anyhow, it does work with an adapter, just looks hideous! #photogear #camerasetups #panasonic #olympus #mft #camerafails

Everything goes in cycles in American politics, and when this MAGA cycle ends soon we must not forget the CEOs, law firms, and media elites who bent the knee to Trump and sold out America for money, power, and access.
