Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄 Wishing everyone some well-earned rest and good memories during the holidays, and a very fruitful new year! 🌟

I've had some terrible times this last year, which is why I've been unable to share any new artwork. I simply didn't have the chance to work at all, just one thing after another. I'm actively working to get back on track next year and continue to do the things I love. Please look forward to it!

Found the original sketch (which i drew on a 2 hour buss ride lol) of "A Light in The Dark". The sketch that became my artwork for the first issue of S1M. @ufoshock.moe is a great inspiration, and i'm forever grateful for having the chance to be apart of such a project! #art #magazine #s1m

A while ago, I made a long thread on the other site with some common questions (and answers!) regarding my artistic process and technique. I think there was a lot of useful information, so I want to share it here as well!

Regarding layers, in my current workflow they are grouped by "base colors", "sketch", "color" and "color fix". I think I used a few more for this piece, but merged them with other layers during the process. The top layer is the flattened image, which I used for color adjustment and final editions.

Regarding canvas size: For portraits, I work at 9000x12000px, and for landscapes at 16000x9000px This is mostly targeting large printwork, so I resize them for social media. If you want higher quality copies you can find 1080p versions on my website!

For hardware, I use a Pen Display. Specifically, I have a Huion Kamvas 24 Plus. I used to have a Linux work machine (Arch with KDE) but due to requirements unrelated to painting, I had to change back to Windows.

The time I spend on each piece varies, but (including planning) each painting takes around 7 to 50 hours of work. Most of my pieces stay around 20 hours. I track the time with Krita's recording tool, which only runs when I actually put a brushstroke in, so I'm unsure what the real-time count is.

I record my process with the built-in Krita recording tool. I used to record my entire screen, but I switched to the built-in option once it was released. This is much more convenient, as I no longer have to edit out all the sections where I do anything else on the computer.

I do sketch a general idea of my pieces before painting, and play with the lighting and colors during the planning part of my process. I also use reference material (photography for example) during planning, it helps a lot in figuring out lighting and shadows.

For the color transitions I use a color mixer, that allows me to pick from a gradient between two colors. It's called "color mixer docker" on Krita. I chose the lightest and darkest colors on a surface, and construct the transition from there. I highly recommend trying this tool!

Activating the color mixer docker is a bit convoluted. You have to go to Settings -> Configure Krita -> Python Plugin Manager. There, enable "Mixer Slider docker", and now it should appear under Settings -> Dockers. You may have to restart Krita after enabling it for it to appear.

Hello everyone!! Still figuring out how this website works 💦 I'll try posting my speedpaints little by little during the following weeks... and maybe also my Q&A thread?
