made Path of Achra, currently developing Lands of Achra, dark fantasy and pixel art, contemplating the vanished earth https://pathofachra.com/

a zealot of the Okonic bodies with some other random weapons (as always thinking about potential card games when on an art spree)

A Lochra gloryseeker and a horned beast of Mardok tried a lower-res camera so it's blurrier which leads to thicker lines (I make these by taking pictures of my sketches)

those tasseled Naqui who found shelter among the ancient bones beneath the earth became zealots of old king death

after the war of night and the lowering of the deadly waters, champions of the folk wandered the new earth, seeking to restore their annihilated histories

final battle in that game with me (green) against the Annaki with more of those fearsome exploding / reviving Adenites. At this point my Surt-thrall (blue axe guy) has developed an enormous amount of life and manages to block for my archers

made room for another column here. Do I need to fill each of these elements with 20 before releasing anything? With Path of Achra I could just put out unfinished stuff and work on it because there was no expectation...much to think about...

Mark Ferrari is probably the man responsible for LOOM EGA being more highly regarded than the VGA version

Sasha's Retrobytes 🏳️‍⚧️@sharkabytes.bsky.social

Mark Ferrari worked for Chaosium and Lucasfilm/Arts in the 80s and early 90s, and you'll see his artistic talents in games such as LOOM and the Secret of Monkey Island. The images in the slideshow are ones created in Deluxe Paint II during this time.

I hand write all these so have to spend hours every now and then typing them into google sheets (im not a fast typer)

Tolkien didn't have a sphincter door.

This Week in Videogames - TWIV@thisweekinvideogames.com

Dwarf Fortress co-creator Tarn Adams says he has no need for GenAI, because his artists are bursting with cool, weird ideas like meat biomes and sphincter doors. "[Tolkien] didn’t have a sphincter door. I mean, I don’t think he did… Who knows what’s going on in, like, Minas Morgul though."

used copy of gauntlet dark legacy arrived in the mail today....green warrior has entered the valley of fire...sorry folks it's over for me

Playing through this again, as the northern barbarian start ofc, enthralled by the dizzying class variety, has always been my favorite kind of thing. Berserkers as light units painted with woad, wielding small axes and knives, ape shamans with cudgels, spear throwing gungnirs etc

applying this click-highlight stuff to the Acts screen too, such as with these categories (labor, devout etc) that things can scale on (also still poem-blurbing everything...)

deep in the UI mines trying to make this as clear as possible, hovering this should now also light up those buttons on the side if they can gather the resource

these are interesting to write because they have to refer to a moving history, as opposed to path of achra where it's a relatively static land separate from the everchanging path
