WTH? So Academia.Edu, a research sharing site, informed me they had generated an AI podcast on paper I was an author on: "Examining the Relationship Between LGBTQ-Supportive School Health Policies and Practices and Psychosocial Health Outcomes of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Heterosexual Students".
Asked if I wanted this on my profile and generate other podcasts, I chose "no". I had reservations about accuracy, permission, content, and the transparency and nature of the content. When I declined, Academia.edu told me: "podcast feature not ready yet. Your podcast will private." Wild.

It was about 5-minutes long, narrated by a persona of Richard Price, CEO of Academia.edu. I wasn't asked about this in advance, and the title of the manuscript was not cited entirely, nor were my co-authors credited. The podcast was not accurate regarding the methods and data sources used.

The MAGA movement isn’t fueled by misinformation—it’s built on meaning. To confront it, we must stop fact-checking and start offering a better story: one that restores trust, renews civic life, and reclaims the moral imagination of democracy.

For now, at least, this is why Bluesky is an important place.
This is a decently accurate summary of the week.
Maternal care in Georgia is shrinking with over a third of Georgia counties having no hospital-based care for childbirth nor birthing centers. Georgia legislation may make birthing centers more accessible.
I have mushroom corals, and they do indeed move around a good bit as many corals do.

Bookstores are just as important and will help stop not only the cultural war, but more importantly, the class war, ignorance is NOT bliss and books are the only safe guard against ignorance…
We are about to enter an era of extreme and dangerous culture war in the United States. How do we protect our communities and work toward a cultural ceasefire? In this piece I wrote a couple months ago, I offer one possible path. wapo.st/40q1BDn

Honor his name: Raoul Wallenberg. Wallenberg wasn’t Jewish. He was a successful Swedish businessman who chose to save Hungarian Jews by the thousands from the Nazis. The Soviets seized him on January 17, 1945, tortured & disappeared him. A righteous hero. encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/a...

In additional Christian nationalist news Oklahoma (one of the states that want to prosecute women who get abortions for homicide), also wants to incentivize Christian "covenant marriages" for which no-fault divorce is not provided.
Pro-life (or as I like to call them, forced birth) proponents in five states want to put forth legislation that prosecutes women who seek abortion for homicide. In three states, this means that this may include the death penalty.
I was thinking about TV shows that reflect GenJones and thought about this article that talks about The Wonder Years, making the point that it shows the transition from Boomer to GenJones.

I know many folks (including GenJones) who are using Bluesky. This is a place with its own culture and features that let you take control of your experience. You build more here than other services to get the most out of it. www.csmonitor.com/The-Culture/...

A driving force in the rise of right-wing populism is relative deprivation accompanying income inequality. "Woods, like many in Youngstown, sympathises with Trump’s zero-sum view of the world – that if one group is benefitting, it is usually at the expense of another." bsky.app/profile/fwco...
