not just institution by institution, but also at a higher, national level, because we are unhappy with how our management at Goldsmiths, Nottingham, Edinburgh, for example, are dealing with the financial situations.”' So come and show your support for all!

And if that wasn't enough, we will be joining @lwobuon on Thursday for an event discussion Politics on Campus. We will be presenting an overview of the financial mismanagement of the university and what our union is doing to right this ship. Hope to see you there!

And don't forget that this picket is Halloween themed! Complete with a staged funeral march to the Trent Building to mourn the loss of all our colleagues whose roles have been made redundant. So dress in your best funeral attire! We'll also have Halloween themed activities for the young ones!

And we'll also be staging a funeral march to the Trent building to make sure management sees the collective disappointment we have in their leadership. See you all on the picket line. Solidarity! #UoN #UCU #UoNUCU #UniversityofNottingham #StopTheCuts #SaveHE

Thank you for the support, @nadiawhittomemp.bsky.social, and for highlighting how our fight for the university is about more than just jobs. It's about the community and what it loses when the university crumbles.

Many constituents have contacted me, devastated by the University of Nottingham’s decision to approve plans to close modern languages and music degrees, cut support services and end one-to-one personal tutoring.

Every passing moment, it becomes clearer and clearer how much our management is failing us- our staff, our students, our community, the university as a whole.

Universities contribute £6.3 billion a year to the East Midlands economy. But at the University of Nottingham, hundreds of jobs and vital courses are under threat. “Students suffer as much from this restructuring as staff.” This fight is about protecting jobs and education for future generations.

Whoops! Session is from 1-2:30. The image is correct, the post text is not. See you there!

by advancing a dispute with the Secretary of State for Education over the issue of funding in Higher Education. This dispute has been UCU policy for two years now, having been consistently backed by multiple UCU branches, including UoN UCU, and voted for at UCU Congress in 2025 and 2026.

The session will include a quick recap on this dispute, as well as outlining the role of the upcoming Special Higher Education Sector Conference (SHESC), before opening up a space to collectively discuss how we might advance this dispute, and thinking through how we might want it to look in practice

We are hosting a teach out on Thursday 8th October 12-3pm at Mammoth on Building Rank and File Networks and strategy. This session will focus on the importance of building rank and file networks and strategy for advancing our collective struggles in Higher Education.

It will start by introducing the central role that the UoN UCU Reps Network has played in our current dispute over planned course closures and redundancies, before discussing efforts to build a cross-branch, cross-union Reps network in Higher Education nationally.

Nottingham bought a campus for £37.5m. Spent £40m more on it. Its own accounts say it could now sell for £14m. Staff and students are paying for that. 609 jobs. Three departments. More than 40 courses. That's why we're on strike. www.thetimes.com/uk/education...

Our strike action yesterday wasn't the first step in this fight and it for sure won't be our last. Our members, our students, and our community members know what is at stake. And we will all keep going toe to toe with management until they listen to reason.

“We will not stand for it silently. We will keep fighting.” Hundreds gathered at yesterday’s University of Nottingham rally in solidarity with UCU members fighting devastating job and course cuts. From Monday, members begin long-term strike action. Show your support. Stand with Nottingham UCU.

Solidarity with @uonucu.bsky.social members once again striking against compulsory redundancies and course closures. Such an outcome would devastate workers, students, and our city, as well as UK research. I urge the university leadership to do the right thing and protect jobs and courses.

Nottingham today. Everywhere tomorrow. 2,700 staff put at risk. 600+ jobs targeted. At least 48 courses facing closure. What happens here sets the template for the sector. Stand with Nottingham.

You are, quite literally, amazing. It’s incredible what’s being thrown at you - job cuts, course closures and a management who refuse to listen tp any of the credible counter-proposals they’ve been presented with. Your determination to keep going is an inspiration.

What a gorgeous day to stand in solidarity with your community. Thank you all for standing with us and showing this university what courage and determination looks like. Here's to our strength as the fight continues. But more importantly, here's to us winning. Solidarity, UoNUCU

Our strike action began today. The management at our university has seemingly shackled itself to course closures and compulsory redundancies, despite neither being financially necessary. So we fight for our members, our students, and our community until they change their minds.

Look, ma! We made the news! Again! Find us handing flyers out on Wednesday and on the picket line on Thursday. Let's show this university what strength means! 💪✊

Which, in turn, bring us even closer to reversing course closures, holding student staff ratios in place, cancelling compulsory redundancies, and inevitably winning. When we fight together, we win. Please fight with us. #UCU #UoN #UoNUCU #UniversityOfNottingham #StopTheCuts #SaveHE
