Many of you who this will show up for may not know that Indian government last week deployed 20000 police personnel, arrested 7000 in a single day, including influencers and activists from their homes, before they could even go to the protests time.com/article/2026...

time.comIn India, a Dark Shadow Falls on Its Vaunted Elections"Mass protests have convulsed India after 130 million Indians were removed from electoral rolls by the country’s election commission," writes Gautam Bhatia.

Police allegedly let goons associated with the in-power political party corner and beat up protesters. Then turn and instruct police to arrest the beaten protesters. With complete impunity.

Kids will find a way. Specially teens flirting. Working in an edtech company I learned how everything was fair game. Lecture comment section, Docs/notes, Canvas with scribbling support when text and audio isn’t available. Symbols and glyphs when you try to limit phone numbers with regex. Everything

I'm glad more people are seeing the @thisamericanlife.org report about how children use the NPR comments section to get around social media bans today. Funny thing is that @npr.org and @techdirt.com reported on this a year ago. And it was Google Docs before podcasts.

Guess I should thank youtube’s exploitative pricing to help me rid the youtube addiction. Wouldn’t let me continue the Indian subscription anymore, so uBlock origin + firefox on the desktop it is. No app on the phone, no offline downloads, no auto PIP that Arc gives. That should actually help.

YouTube premium’s India pricing ₹149 /month (1.4€) by the way, is what it should be everywhere. Maybe 5€ for PPP and if we’re being generous. What are they charging 15€ for? They don’t even produce the content like Netflix. Storage is still cheap (at least for them)

When do you think github will go below a single 9 uptime? I bet someone is ‘predicting’ this on polymarket already for 2026

Hi @buttondown.com, my account got temporarily disabled for some reason. I have submitted an appeal form. Would appreciate if someone could take a look. I publish on a schedule and this came as a surprise right at the time of publishing.

Weird that youtube is recommending right-wing content and creators to me. Hooks me in with ‘how social media has made you a slave’ or something like that, then the very next video hits me with ‘how immigrants are eating our cats’ I am like, guy, I am the one you are warning me about.

Read somebody calling the Iran war ‘the weekend war’ and there couldn’t be a more appropriate description at this point. Attack Friday evenings after markets close, announce talks are in progress by Sunday evening before the markets open. Great!!

Github’s enterprise level Copilot usage control and policy settings are/is the most confusing piece of UX I’ve ever seen. It is hard to imagine there is a design team behind this.

Also, after the switch to token based pricing, there is simply no way to know either in vscode, or intellij what percentage of allotted tokens one has used. Why? Why would you do this?

@guild.host Hi, absolutely love your nav / action bar! Just wanted to check if this is my personal nitpick and was intentional or maybe something to look into. Clicking the user icon multiple times brings just the profile option up sometimes, and the login menu at others.

Apple only has sms/call OTP based two factor auth if you are not signed-in with that account on any of the apple devices. No TOTP (authenticator app) support. None Billions of dollars worth company. No TOTP.

On top of this, they rate limited me when I logged in 3-4 times using sms OTP, because they themselves kept logging me out. Rate limited for 24 hours. Again, this was normal usage, not programmatic bombardment of OTP requests

I just imported all my library in from goodreads and there are some missing covers or missing/mismatched versions of books.
