The V4SDB Summer School 2026 on Spatial Transcriptomics has been rolling since yesterday in Budapest 🔬, with excellent talks from Enikő Lázár (KTH Royal Institute of Technology) and Konstantin Khodosevich (BRIC, University of Copenhagen; @khodosevichlab.bsky.social ) on 🫀 Visium and 🧠 Xenium 🧵

And that wasn’t quite all 👀… Raphaël Mauron (KTH Royal Institute of Technology) led the super 🫀 Visium hands-on session, and later, Katarina Dragicevic & Dorottya Ralbovszki (both BRIC, University of Copenhagen) did a great job guiding students through processing 🧠 Xenium sections. 🧵

⏳ Last week to apply! Join us at the 2026 V4SDB Student Summer School in Budapest - a great opportunity to connect with peers and explore spatial transcriptomics 🔥 🔗 Apply by June 21: v4sdb.org/2026-v4sdb-s...

We took #V4SDB2025 all the way up… to the mountains 🏔️🔥 Thanks to everyone who joined our Post-Conference Mountain Adventure ❤️

Petra Kompanikova@petrakompanikova.bsky.social

Big thanks to David Zimčík from the Buchtová lab, who guided our participants during the Post-Conference Mountain Adventure in the heart of the High Tatras, showing them the beauty of the cascading waterfalls — "Vodopády Studeného potoka"🌲💧

We are grateful to Visegrád Fund for sponsoring the Best chalk talk & Best poster prizes at the @v4sdb.bsky.social Meeting 2025. Congratulations to the winners: 🏅Chalk talks: Affifah Azimuddin Chogle, Adam Soos & Malgorzata Wojtaszek; 🏅Posters: Marcelina Osyra, Kriti Attri & Tomas Suchanek.👏

Wow, that was amazing! We thank everyone for attending the V4SDB 2025 meeting! You all made it an excellent conference, where we had the opportunity to hear from outstanding speakers, share ideas and experiences, and of course have some unforgettable time during social activities!

We're grateful to each and every of you, and cordially invite to the next V4SDB meeting in Prague, 2027! And follow us to not miss more updates in the field of developmental biology! #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalbiology #morphogenesis #organoids #evodevo

Please welcome our final speaker to the stage: Ádám Soós from Semmelweis University with his fascinating talk Exposure to Mesenchymal Growth Factors Enhances the Ability of Enteric Neural Stem Cells to Colonize the Avian Aganglionic Hindgut! #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalbiology #organoids

He has worked on improving neurospheres to model the development of the enteric nervous system. They did this by combining in vitro culturing with specific growth factors, followed by implantation in ovo to track the progress of enteric neural stem cells during ENS development!

The data reveal the importance specific genes during rRNA modifications and ribosomal assembly in specifying mesenchymal cell fate of cranial neural crest cells in mouse embryos - and a connection with neuroblastoma

Our next speaker - Anna Pulawska-Czub from the University of Warsaw. She presents a talk Unlocking Regeneration: The Potential of Nail Proximal Fold Stem Cells #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalbiology #evodevo #morphogenesis #regeneration

Have you ever wondered how nails grow? Well today is the day we find out! Nail proximal fold stem cells can change their fate in response to injury - here we find out how BMP and WNT signalling contribute to this by using mouse models #tissueregeneration #celltransplantation

And we proceed with Radek Šindelka, Institute of Biotechnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, who will tell us about Identification of Regeneration Initiation Cells and Their Function #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalbiology #evodevo #morphogenesis #regeneration

Radek will describe an unrecognised cell population, which takes part in regeneration initiation and uncover its role in tail regeneration of Xenopus laevis embryos. Don't miss out! #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalbiology #evodevo #morphogenesis #regeneration

Cellular senescence can be either protective or detrimental to an organism - this depends entirely on the situation! She will tell us about its role both during mammary gland involution and its implications in breast cancer

And we proceed with an exciting talk by Krzysztof Kobielak from the University of Warsaw, The BMP-ID2 Axis Reveals a Reversible Hair Follicle Stem Cells Gene Network That Regulates Intrinsic Oscillations Between Opposing States During Hair Regeneration #V4SDB2025 #conference

Krzysztof will talk about the largest tissue of our body - the skin, and how hair follicle stem cells are involved in hair regeneration, covering the Bmp-Id2 axis and its role in quiescence. #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalbiology #evodevo #morphogenesis #organoids

Welcome to the day 3! We start with a session Stem cells and plasticity, chaired by Nàndor Nagy, Semmelweis University. Grab some coffee and join us! #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalbiology #evodevo #morphogenesis #organoids

Conferences aren’t only for science but also to have fun with colleagues and making new friends. What better time for this than the gala dinner on our last evening together! Keep an eye out, the evening has only just begun! #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalfriendships #galadinner

To tell us about his lab’s research into Missing Genetics in the Classical Developmental Model: Filling the Gap Using Primordial Germ Cells and Gene Editing in Chickens, we have Jiří Hejnar from @imgprague.bsky.social! #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalbiology #evodevo

His work is furthering the development of the chicken as a model organism. The lab has established a new method to optimise CRISPR/Cas9 editing in chick embryos with some very exciting results

Lactation is a key feature of mammals and successful nursing is essential for the survival of offspring. The talk showed exciting new insights, comparing the development of bones and muscles in the mouse with the echidna and the platypus, which lack nipples and therefore nurse by a different method

After a refreshing coffee break and some snacks, our new chair for the second half of this session is Máté Varga @mvargam.bsky.social from ELTE Eötvös Loránd University #V4SDB2025 #conference #developmentalbiology #evodevo #morphogenesis
