Next job interview I'm walking in with a case of Monster energy drinks and I'm going to leave with no cans. Iced coffee is for chumps. (PS I actually really like iced coffee lol)

I posted a discussion thread in the wow forever reddit, and hoooooly shit the people coming out of the woodwork to tell me how soft and fragile I am is fuckin wild. Apparently I said something extremely controversial when I said "maybe Blizzard could moderate their game a little more like FFXIV" lol

A lot of people had some good shit to say too, and if the upvotes are to be believed, people are largely in agreement, but ever since I posted in the early afternoon my inbox has been filled with all sorts of slander. If I were as thin-skinned as they claim, I'd be having a bad time

You know, World of Warcraft could be a good game if Blizzard would just bother moderating their fucking game a bit more. FFXIV and Square can do it. Why can't you? These ghouls feel so entitled to their hatefulness that the entire crowd just feels so numb to it. "Oh just ignore the vile racists"

Like, no. No, I don't think ignoring racist, sexist behavior is the solution here. It just emboldens those fuckers to be louder, with zero consequences. Fuck that. Fix yo' shit.

Internet things: A person on reddit today accused me of being pro rape because I dared to dispute that maybe they shouldn't be saying all truckers deserve what they're getting with high prices right now. I should know better than to engage sometimes, but goddamn people are ridiculous.

I know we're all angry, but fuck, dude, you gotta pick the right targets. The misinformation industry and the administration, not the people that could change course and help us get out of this mess. But nah, that's too complicated and nuanced.

I'm so tired. It's 3 AM, and I can't fall asleep. The last several months have been excruciating. I have posted about this before, but I lost my job in April. I used to work at a pretty cool small tech company that put out an EHR software for the Mac. I liked it. Before the acquisition.

I just wish I felt the kinds of passion I see from other people. So many cool projects that deserve so much more, and all I want to do is *that*, but I can't seem to get my brain to do it. I can do it for a few weeks and then I just can't seem to anymore. And I don't know why.

Anyway, yeah. Sorry to add another fully dramatic thread to an already dramatic internet. The future is dark right now, but all this to say, I haven't given up, and I won't give up. But the nights are long and dark and I wish I could find the answers. It's just hard to find them.

I'm running to a hobby and going "how can I make money off of this", which is maybe why I can't seem to make any progress anymore. I'm so paralyzed by my own bullshit that I just can't break out anymore. I feel so fucking hopeless and I don't know what to do. At least my home life is mostly secure.

So that's it, that's the super mega word vomit here at, shit, almost 4 AM now on a Tuesday morning. I haven't slept, I'll probably sleep till well past noon, and then I'll be staring at this fucking computer again wondering what I should chase or do or spend my copious amounts of free time on.

I'm afraid that this anger that I have, this deep seated anger, is going to come rumbling out, and I'm going to say all these things. About how fucking sick I am of it all. How sick I am of the corruption on even the most pointless shit. The evils that are being committed in our name. AI. All of it.

I'm so fucking angry and the only outlet I have are stupid fucking games. TTRPGs, video games, fantasy books. I thought I could pretend and try to be a developer, maybe make a solo game, but seeing the market as it is...that feels incredibly hopeless too. Because I fell into the same trap.

I can't tell my IRL friends about that problem, because some of them *are* the problem there. And I'm probably a coward for not addressing any of that. In fact, I basically spend all my time at home, alone, cringing at the thought of interacting with others, because the last 5 years have been remote

And maybe that's the ultimate problem. I've become so disconnected from everything, that in these darker moments, I feel so fucking alone, and I have only myself to blame. I'm the one who pushed everyone away. I'm the one who remains shut in and ignores texts and calls because I'm afraid...

And the news....fuck, the news. There's not even a profit motive for half of the horrors we're committing, because it's not about money there, it's about power, the one thing more intoxicating. Another thing about me: I used to be involved in the fandom convention circuit. Even ran an event.

It is *distressing* how people will gravitate towards positions of power, *even* when there's no money around. People would fall into positions of power, and then because they held the seat, they would start treating people like shit. And it's so fucking predictable, it's distressing.

These motherfuckers have no respect for anything or anyone. There's no values beyond profit. If it doesn't make a profit, it's useless. And that's it, isn't it? That's the whole goddamn problem right there. We are so fucked in the head that money at all costs is the imperative.

Not love. Not fulfillment. Not quality. None of this shit matters, just the almighty dollar. And god, that mentality fucking infects *everything*. Any discussion about art becomes "well, how can you market this skill?" Nothing can exist unless it makes some asshole money.

And god, the number of people I knew, smart, good people, who suddenly couldn't do a single fucking thing without running it by ChatGPT was truly distressing. Every letter and response became AI-generated slop which I hated to read. I already hated corpo speak, and AI-written slop is worse.

In my heart, I know they took my entire helpdesk and just fed it into a model so it could regurgitate the answers incorrectly. And that they could justify letting me go, the guy who built it all... I think I'm calm and over it, and then I hear something about AI and corps and I get so fucking angry

I've lost count of how many job apps I've put in. I can count with one half-hand the number of interviews I scored. *Rejection letters*, which still sting, are now exciting because *I actually received a rejection instead of zero communication*. And then there's the AI angle.

The last three years have been nothing but a struggle to convince the powers that be at this stupid company that their overreliance on AI was a problem. It's health data we're dealing with. People don't like talking to chatbots. Support reps cannot magic solutions that require specialized knowledge.

Was I perfect at my job? Nah. In fact, the last few years I've been pretty checked out. This year I knew it was coming through several small little signs. Transitioned responsibilities. Multiple meetings of showing people the different systems "so they could back me up."

Layoffs are pretty common once acquisitions occur. I survived three rounds over the years. Saw a lot of good people, friends, lose their livelihoods and struggle. I guess now I'm the one struggling. Why am I writing this now? Because I just feel so fucking empty and directionless.

We had the best Thanksgiving potlucks. We had regular fun team events. We had beers on Fridays. My job was maintaining help desk materials. I'd write up guides, take video and screenshots. I was proud of what I did. Every new feature or product launch, I'd have my basic guides ready to go day one.

A random person out in the wild today walked up to me and said my hair was beautiful being a dude, I am unaccustomed to such compliments. More so now that it's taken a silver sheen thus destroying any illusions of infinite youth I will be riding this compliment all year though

I'm so tired. Haven't even done anything with Godot and my project this week, it's all I can do to put in job applications and cook meals without feeling so thoroughly distraught by reality right now. It's temporary, this malaise shall pass, but it's just so tiring.

Weird posting interactions today, I'm observing. Don't be afraid to check reply trends on hostile posts you receive, you might find some "interesting" behavior patterns.

You know, AI would probably have a greater acceptance rate if the chuds would try a different tactic than telling you to "live in empirical reality" (actual quote) because you call out some of the awfulness about AI. They're so insufferably smug, that EVEN IF THEY WERE RIGHT, they can still fuck off
