This is how culture dies. Games made by nobody, for an audience of nobody, remembered by nobody, built on the bones of great artists who came before. This is the last act of a dying civilization that forgot what it means to be human, if it ever actually was.

NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

hey hi I'm gathering a list of features/tropes/etc that make a mega man game a Mega Man game (things like "choose your stage order", "defeat a boss, get their weapon" and so on) what elements, big or small, define a Mega Man game to you?

what i love about the internet is people really do just say shit found a youtube comment disagreeing with the assertion that conversations about aphantasia require introspection on the grounds that people with aphantasia will be bad at math (i think the commenter must think about math visually?)

In the Renaissance people theorized, since the Aeneid is great, if you wrote poems made only of words & phrases from the Aeneid rearranged they should be great too, since a great source regurgitated should yield greatness. They produced NOTHING we still read. Thinking about that a lot lately.

ads represent a fundamental security risk to you as a user and running an ad blocker is one of the easiest and most efficacious ways of being safer on the internet "turn off your ad blocker" is dangerous advice

everyone — consumers, publishers, writers — would wind up better off if web browser ad-blockers didn't exist and the rationalizations for using one are mostly clever justifications for what's just selfish behavior with obvious negative social consequences.

Every time I re-watch The Wicker Man (2006) it takes me all day because I keep pausing to do more exciting things like the dishes, checking the mail, or taking out the compost.

today in scenes from a dead mall: pacific place has set up massive TV screens to show the world cup, with a very bad sound system blasting loud enough to be heard (but not good enough to be understood) through the entire building the crowd gathered was not big enough to make the mall look alive
