Trump just confirmed the tariffs are really about shifting the tax burden to eliminated the income tax. This is a big sales tax (paid disproportionately by average Americans) disguised as tariffs (paid by foreigners).

Remember when we talk about the devastation tariffs are causing - the reason for the tariffs is not to bring manufacturing back in 3 - 5 years (that it takes to plan and execute such a thing). The reason is to eliminate the income tax and replace it with this revenue stream - a hidden sales tax.

From Trump there’s always a reason that’s just not true…deport immigrants; they’re rapists, murderers, etc (vs xenophobia). Tariffs; bringing back factories so millions of us can be “screwing in little screws for iPhones” (vs creating a camouflaged sales tax to offset the end of income taxes).

The real reason for tariffs is to eliminate the income tax in favor of raising $ thru tariffs (which is a hidden sales tax on everyday people). Bringing back manufacturing is a ruse / it takes 3 -10 years to plan and build factories and no one will do that when the ext admin may reverse all this.
