additionally, it's important to recognize that there are a lot of creators that specifically strive to showcase this representation, and that's NOT what i'm commenting on i'm making commentary of the consumer/fan mindset, not the provider

that's not me dissing anyone of the sort or thinking less of their creations in hindsight because representation is VERY important, i just feel more folks could benefit to look into a piece of media beyond as well as in conjunction with how it specifically focuses on themes surrounding minorities

rather than the themes and stories they were actually trying to tell via it's authors wishes now of course we can't necessarily dictate how a general audience takes in a piece of media and the message it sends to people (so rest assured, this isn't a complaint, just an observation)

in a way, i'm somewhat grateful and lucky that folks haven't enjoyed my songs under the understanding of "look at what this disabled guy made" - that personally wasn't ever my goal, so perhaps i'm lucky my disability isn't as common knowledge to be so easily applicable to my art

i feel as though a lot of trans, lgbtq+, and poc creators specifically run into this a lot... where they put out something really amazing, but then a lot of fans dissect it's themes under the context of it's creator and their experiences as a minority, (cont.)

any minority can and should be allowed the space to write stories outside of their personal experiences, but i feel as though so many *FANS put weight on subtext backed up by personal experiences that consumers tend to subconsciously discard any other attempt at a thematic focus from a creator

for instance, i don't necessarily have to write songs about my disability for the themes and messages to ring true, it just so happens that writing those kinds of stories/songs may come easier to me since i have the experiences to back it up

I genuinely think the most competitive thing any other game company could do right now is make a statement further committing to their current consoles. We really REALLY do not need the next generation of gaming, right now.

PlayStation 6’s memory costs alone exceed $680 per console, it’s claimed, potentially suggesting an unprecedented price tag for the next-gen machine. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/playsta...

Boss fights in Belmont’s Curse are the big highlight for me, but the Celeste-like traversal and Arcanas (specifically leveling them up) are not my favorite thing. I have yet to really use some of them because they all barely do any damage and cost far too much mana. I might as well not have them.

I also keep thinking about how I approached Ad Deus et Mors, and while I absolutely love what I wrote and had Castlevania in the brain while writing it, I gotta say… …the song doesn’t quite fit the unique vibe Belmont’s Curse gives off. 😅

- the upscaling of the game is really rough on the eyes and anti-aliasing isn’t doing much to mask it - the camera started twitching on me at two instances and i couldn’t fix it without running for five minutes to a save point - maybe i haven’t unlocked it yet, but this game needs a fast travel

- combat is fluid as hell, probably the best thing about this game, but the parry is really annoyingly strict - boss encounters are legitimately very challenging and have required me to recognize strategies which many games haven’t done for me in a bit
