Game Announcement 🚨 In Neo Bananas, You're tasked to destroy 8 bananas in an open level. Use your skills and powers to find them all as fast as you can. Inspired by Target practice (Smash Bros), it's a heavy speedrun game with splits, leaderboards, and more! #godot #indiedev #gamedev #pixelart

My analytics from #SteamNextFest so far 615 downloads 73 players launched the demo 58 finished Level 1 16 finished the demo It's 21.9% of players that booted up the game 20.5% of the players dropped at level 3, the level where I introduce a new powerup, so huge hint to fix something here!

It's very ironic that one of the most popular demo of #SteamNextFest is a find the needle type game. We spend the last months debating about clones and slops, and at the end of the day, a concept cloned hundreds of times is the one rising to the top. 🤷‍♂️ I haven't played it, no idea if it's good.

✨JUST GET THE FLAG REACHED 100 Wishlist !! ✨ I know this might sound silly, but hey, it’s a big step for me. So thank you to each and every one of you. ❤️🙏 I've started adding Easter 🥚 from other 🧩 games. Try to guess which ones : 🪨🚌🪱🐘🟥🔵🟠🌭💣📆 #godot #godotengine #indiedev #indiegame #puzzlegame

My demo has been officially buried in the #SteamNextFest 😅 BUT, I think it's entirely my fault. I didn't do enough pre-Festival to get the attention, and I'm not gonna blame Valve or the AI for this one. I control what I can control.

It confirms though that I won't be submitting to another Steam Next Fest if the format stays the same, it's just not worth it anymore compared to when I did it in 2023. I'll focus my effort elsewhere, like 3rd party festivals, curated events, content creators and my niche speedrunning audience.

I had to rush my submissions, so I miss the marketing window. At that point, I pivoted into a Playtest mindset with the goal of testing out the concept and gathering early feedback. I'm happy with what I got out of it. The demo/game is much better today than it was a week ago thanks to that.

I pushed an update to the Neo Bananas demo to make it (re)playable on the Steam Deck. A fix I pushed Wednesday broke the fullscreen mode making it unplayable. Anyway, all is good now. It's the perfect format to grind for the speedrun leaderboards! 😎 #SteamNextFest #Indiedev #SteamDeck #Godot

Many recommend being active on reddit to promote gamedev. After a month, I don't think it's a platform for me 😅 I've been insulted, ignored, called a loser, miserable...I just replied on stuff trying to be objective but there's always that one dude acting like I just ruined his day.

I've really enjoyed designing Neo Bananas so far. It's 11 months of nights and weekends hand-crafting mechanics and levels, drawing every pixel and tweaking small details to make it as fun as possible. It's not my dream game, but I'm making it like it's my dream speedrun game. #Indie #Speedrun

I usually check out as many games as possible in Next Fest, but the tidal wave of AI trash has beaten me Non-AI indie devs please post your games below and I'll check em out instead Also @steampowered.com PLEASE add an option to filter out AI games in searches. It's killing discoverability #gaming

My demo for Neo Bananas is live for the Next Fest! - 10 levels - individual online leaderboards - extra challenges It's a 15-minute demo if you only beat the level and probably 3 hours if you do 100% with all S-ranks and challenges. Honestly, I doubt anyone will do it 😅 #godot #nextfest

Last few days of vacations already! It was cool to lay low and relax for a few weeks, but stay tune for more Neo Bananas content in the following weeks as I'm preparing my Steam Next Fest demo! I aim to publish it early October. #godot #indiedev #steamnextfest

What's the point of people leaking and spoiling everything there will be in the Nintendo Direct ahead of time? It ruins the joy of watching for everyone. It's like if I go to your home on December 23rd and tell your kids exactly what they will unwrap for Christmas in 2 days. It kills the magic.

At what point did we start normalizing listening to your phone on speakers in public places with the volume bursting? What happened to headphones? Why don't people feel bad for disturbing others nearby? Nobody want to listen to your tiktoks or your phone calls, come on!

My time at #Gamescom made me realize how saturated the game industry became. Seeing thousands of great games side by side and knowing that many of them won't make a profit, it's heartbreaking. That's why I want to make smaller byte-size games to lower the risk and experiment with more genres.

Just finished my week at #Gamescom I played up to 50-60 indie games over the last 3 days. Everybody were so fun to talk to (and extremely passionate). From student projects to mid-budget indies, there's something for everyone! Here are my 5 favorite games from the event (no order):

3. Ballgame by @human.computer I'm a sucker for platformers and this one was really fun and snappy. It's part minigolf, part pinball, with a speedrun feel to it. The pixel art has so much details! I spent 30 min talking with the team and I had a blast doing so. store.steampowered.com/app/3830320

4. Astra: Fading Stars by Dimension Omega A metroidvania with cool art and cool design that I played at the Greek booth. I played the demo for 20 minutes and was already immersed by the story and the mood of the game. Bonus points for being made in #Godot !! store.steampowered.com/app/1666480

I'm looking at all the #gamescom after-hour events. Lots of invite-only and bigger companies organizing stuff, what about smaller meetups, smaller network events, spontaneous get-together's? Any that I should be aware of? Anyone interested in a Godot meetup?

Extremely proud of the work we did on the ports of @househouse.com ’s latest title: Big Walk! An incredible adventure to share with your friends. Go check it out! 🤩

House House@househouse.com

🔴🟡🔵 BIG WALK 🔴🟡🔵 Out now on Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. Hooray!

On one hand, the title seems condescending. Indies shouldn't aim for GOTY status to be taken seriously. The article, on the other hand, was very interesting. I agree 100% that games should be more creative and focused instead of safe all-around. Be wild, be risky and be yourself.

We need games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Balatro, and Peak as a cure for the "fear" in the industry, say experts www.gamesradar.com/games/we-nee...

If I'd run my own social media, I'd enforce a rule where you can only post once every week. You have to save your most important thought for that specific post. Nobody would want that, people are wired to share 47 useless thoughts every hour, but I think it would make a more interesting feed.

Pretty happy with my results for the #GMTK 2026. "Enjoyment" was the category that was the most important when making the game and finishing #273 out of 10,600 games means a lot! Also a huge thank you to ZerolagGaming for the fire OST!

My takeaway so far for the #GMTK jam is that 4 days is too short for me. My concept has potentiel, but I would need 2-3 extra days to add content, visuals and polish It's a deck-building shoot 'em up where you fire your 10 bullets from higher damage to lower. You upgrade / add effects between hands

Crazy to me that kids won't ever experience the joy of unwrapping a video game at Christmas anymore. Your mom wouldn't let you play yet, but you opened the box, read the booklet, imagine yourself playing. Then, you put the cart in the SNES and the full game boots up right away. What a feeling!

No installs. No updates. No license. No 20-page EULA so that you accept to sell your playing data to a foreign company. No 30 minutes tutorials and endless textboxes. No batteries to charge. No microtransactions and cosmetics to buy. Everything was there. Everything was playable. Forever.

When I hear "the gaming industry sucks", 99% of the time people refer to AAA studios and multi-billion dollar companies. Meanwhile, there's a huge ecosystem of indie developers and alternative platforms to play games on. You can still directly encourage the devs & artists.
