In case you wonder, the girl here is (seemingly) another doll. A life sized one. That the man keeps in his house, behind a locked door. In a room full of dead butterflies. ...But again, the artwork is so nice, she's not really unnerving. Not nearly as unnerving as the butterflies, at least.

And there you have it...! A neat concept that looks rather nice - so nice that even (most of) the spooky dolls come off as looking rather nice. I look forward to seeing this take of mine get subverted, but in the meantime, I'll keep enjoying the watercolors. Game releases in TWO DAYS!

Not sure if the look of these NPCs is supposed to represent something... Maybe how distant the main character feels from them, even as a fellow resident of town? Or that he views them as inhuman...? Or maybe they're just place holder art because it's a demo. Could be all three!

I will say the artwork is so well done in these scenes that it almost detracts from the supposed horror elements of the game? Like... these are supposed to be creepy dolls, right? But they all look so nice and vibrant! How could they be spooky?

Right off the bat, I enjoy the art style. The watercolor work is all wonderful, and each scene looks straight out of a picture book. Like... seriously. This is a Japanese picture book I have, and the art is SO SIMILAR.

In 2017 Universal wanted to start their cinematic "Dark Universe" with a Mummy movie. During the production I was chosen as background artist for a companion game, developed in just 8 months crunch. The movie wasn't just bad but considered worst movie of the year which destroyed the games sales.

I will forever love VC for letting me have units with actual FLAWS to deal with - it added so much personality to the squad members who otherwise just be random mooks, and was a cool way to get players to make their own uniquely preferred teams. More games need to give me flawed characters.

My theory on the success of the RE movie as a game adaptation: this is what happens when you hire people that actually played the games get to make the movies ...because all the people that played the games as kids/teens are now old enough to make movies as their chosen profession.
