I am a guy (🇮🇹) who does stuff with computers. I do web dev for work, and I love game dev as a hobby. I am interested in games (board games and videogames) and coding (mostly #gamedev). https://github.com/vikkio88

I love the idea of codeberg, but fucking hell it is unreliable. I had to move some sideprojects to @gitlab.com so I can keep @github.com out of my shit
I've played all of the main Mario games with my 5 years old daughter and reviewed each one of them: yokupoku.surge.sh/posts/all-of... spoiler: New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS is the best.

been busy lately, but still managed to play in the lat 2 months around 30 hours of: Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 and Crimson Desert. Unfortunately I did not enjoy them enough #Clair_obscur_expedition_33 yokupoku.surge.sh/reviews/clai... #CrimsonDesert yokupoku.surge.sh/reviews/crim...
after 4 month of painful breaking updates, unstable releases, shitty support for @officialarduino.bsky.social IDE and @godotengine.org, I decided to say fuck off to #omarchy and switch back to my trusty XCFE.

as a programming language nerd this looks amazing duck-lang.dev
just randomly stumbled upon this and it's so nice, interesting and refreshing. thanks for sharing this talk.
My Ubuntu Summit talk is up! Where I talk about: 1. How Desktop UX is effectively dead 2. Why I hate the term UX/UI with the heat of 1000 suns 3. How OSS can actually innovate in #ux www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fZT...

after quite a good run of @callofduty.com this year, after trying out during the free trial period, I decided to buy #battlefield6 and it's basically a rip off of CoD with slower gameplay. Love it. I think the menus are a bit clunky to move around but the gameplay makes up for it

found another game to play after I got destroyed by #Cyberpunk2077 #ScourgeBringer which was free on Epic last week, it is just amazing. yokupoku.surge.sh/reviews/scou...
2 weeks in and very happy with @zed.dev used it with react, svelte, go, Python and rust and it has been amazing. fast, lightweight and looks great. the only thing I haven't tried yet in fairness is debugging. I don't need it as I never make any bugs 😜
after probably about 8 years of using exclusively @vscode.dev the last few updates broke my custom ui, and after all of that ai garbage spread everywhere I decided to give @zed.dev a serious go. The killer feature is: turn ai features off. I do use AI, who doesn't, I just want it out of my editor.
oh brothers go and get yourself a free copy of Immortals Fenyx Rising store.ubisoft.com/uk/immortals... I played it few years back and loved it more than Zelda BotW yokupoku.surge.sh/reviews/immo...
added a little progress bar to yokupoku.surge.sh/products/ which is a list of the games I hoard on pc, and I want to play and review :D I am halfway seems like...
Finally got around to try properly @tauri.app , love it, but man Rust gives me headaches. Might need the 4th refresher github.com/vikkio88/tau...
now almost 2 months in I think #omarchy is nice looking but shittily configured, when I get some time will format and re-install arch from scratch and setup my own hyprland. Just too much crap.
been using #omarchy for the last 2 weeks, after ages of budgie on ubuntu, and before that flexbox and i3 on ubuntu. I kind of like it that is all setup for me, but I hate most of the forced tools in it. sometimes when I see "opinionated" it reads "I dont care if it works for you just do as I say"

been listening to some episodes of BetterOffline podcast from @edzitron.com and somehow weirdly made me feel better realising that someone else thinks that the AI hypetrain is just that, and as everything powered by greed e lies will probably die spectacularly. thanks

Here it is, just for fun, another tool that probably only I will use: Kiffarino. It's a local ticket manager that uses plain Markdown files (and a bit of JSON) as its database. Why I made it (and why it might be useful): dev.to/vikkio88/kee... Check it out here: github.com/vikkio88/kif...

I fucking hate the future. this whole channel is randomly ai generated reggae music www.youtube.com/@ZionnRoots I mean, I love reggae, and yes there are only 3 recurring themes in every song, but this is shit.
hey up! I don't know if people would care, but I want to share a little sideproject I have been working on: Alicarti, a framework to create multiplayer browser games. Written in @bun.sh and @svelte.dev. Code: github.com/vikkio88/ali... little demo showcasing few games/apps youtu.be/NIH1Rsx_7zk
until the other week every friggin #javascript dev was on the #rust bandwagon, since @typescriptlang.org announced the @golang.org rewrite I can see everyone jumping on the new #go hype train. I love web development and hate web developers, everyone just practise TDD: Trends Driven Development.

I think I am failing #rust once again, rustlings finished, exercises done, it is just... the syntax is pants. I decided to give another go to #zig, I have read the zig.guide and started codeberg.org/ziglings/exe... Any Zig fan who wants to share any other learning resource?
