I hope Congress acts asap to make this guidance ultimately unnecessary, but until then, offering some guidance and tips if you or a loved one’s care access is being impacted due to federal inaction.

Humbled to stand alongside our nation’s physician leaders today in Arizona amid a vital moment for American healthcare. Patients place profound trust in their medical provider. With that trust comes our responsibility to lead toward a healthier future for all. Grateful for the invitation 🙏

Happening now: @rweingarten.bsky.social is joining General Motors and local school leaders to announce Manufacturing Futures, a new $500,000 initiative that will bring hands-on learning, advanced technology and career pathways to 2,800 middle school students in Detroit and Dearborn each year.

Wishing Jalen Hurts a full recovery. It’s important to understand all the facts before drawing conclusions, while using this moment to raise awareness. Persistent leg pain or swelling warrants prompt evaluation; sudden chest pain or shortness of breath requires emergency care.

Today marks one year since losing my mother. Nothing quite prepares you for the loss of a mother’s love. In her honor, we established the Dr. Usha Gupta Memorial Scholarship to help young women from communities like hers pursue medicine, carrying forward her legacy by opening doors for others.

The public should be able to see how health recommendations are made, what evidence supports them, and where uncertainty remains. These are not lofty ideals. They should be basic standards of public service.

I’m proud to serve on the Public Health for America Working Group. The future demands better than what we have today, and I’m hopeful for what we can build together. Grateful for the trust placed in me and for @murray.senate.gov’s leadership.

As the situation in Russia unfolds, separating fact from fear matters. So does remembering that infectious diseases know no borders—and neither should our commitment to protecting public health.

Must read reporting from the intrepid @katherineeban.bsky.social What a public service she provides now and always.

Grateful to join Senator Murray’s Public Health for America Working Group The work ahead is vital: restoring trust, strengthening the institutions that protect us, and reaffirming a simple idea—that public health is a shared promise we make to one another @murray.senate.gov

Get your flu shot now. Don’t wait until flu season is in full swing. And as we discussed this morning, know your options. Also, consider keeping a few at-home COVID/flu combination tests on hand. Many are available online for under $10 and may be HSA/FSA eligible.

The reports of severe pneumonia and death are serious and warrant full transparency from Russia about the cause. But right now, there’s no evidence this poses a significant threat to the U.S. public. We should stay vigilant and follow the facts as they emerge.

The claim that pediatricians vaccinate children for profit is not only false—the economics are often the opposite. They vaccinate because they’ve devoted their careers to protecting children Turning that commitment into an accusation of profiteering is an especially vile lie.

Proud to stand with the clinicians confronting Pennsylvania’s escalating measles outbreak. While federal rhetoric shifts attention elsewhere, they are caring for the patients living with the consequences. Their voices, their stories, and the suffering they’re witnessing deserve the spotlight.

Want the truth about measles? Listen to the doctors treating it. Voices breaking as they describe suffering that did not have to happen. More than 165 hospitalizations and rising. Their testimonials are the clearest answers to the fed’s rhetoric.

Grateful to the Washington State Medical Association for the invitation to keynote its annual meeting. At a difficult moment for American medicine, defending our profession matters. And if we want a healthcare system worthy of our patients, clinicians must lead the way forward. @wsmaceo.bsky.social

On the ground at the epicenter of the measles outbreak, the clinicians doing the lifesaving work told us who they’re relying on: their colleagues, local health departments and state officials. Just as revealing was who they didn’t mention.

Behind the rhetoric around measles are real patients, families and clinicians carrying the consequences. This week, I traveled to rural Pennsylvania to hear directly from doctors at the center of an unprecedented outbreak Their stories deserve to cut through the noise—and remind us what’s at stake

The questions posed to Dr Heidi Overton yesterday aren’t sources of great confusion. Is mail-order Mifepristone safe? Yes. Is an IUD a form of abortion? Clearly No. Does MMR need to be split into 3 for safety reasons? No. If you can’t answer those 3 questions clearly…

This isn’t just about NIH grants. It’s about whose health gets studied—and whose gets ignored. Defund research on women and minority communities. Weaken the safety net. Politicize which science gets funded. Different policies. Same consequence: the people who already have the least lose the most.

Artificial intelligence can help us detect disease earlier, sharpen a clinician’s differential diagnosis, and identify promising drugs faster. The real measure of progress is whether it helps us deliver better medicine—while preserving the human connection so core to great care

Leaders who fear accountability try to silence the voices that provide it. A free press doesn’t exist to make those in power comfortable. We won’t stop asking hard questions or speaking plainly—especially when the health of the American people is at stake.

“MAHA” says environmental exposures are driving chronic disease. So why is the EPA of the same administration weakening protections against some of the best-documented environmental health risks? Yet again, California stepping into the void of federal leadership.

Sept 11 was my first day of college. Its aftermath shaped my generation and later led many of us to serve. Tomorrow belongs to those who were taken—and to the families for whom that morning will never end. Their loss and their memories must always be sacred to our country.

A note/scribble from our four-year-old before he went to school and I left for the airport this morning Childhood is a golden blink—the moments that matter rarely announce themselves. Fatherhood keeps reminding me to be present enough to notice despite all the pulls that take you away.

Medical freedom? It’s the freedom to see a doctor without going broke. To breathe clean air and drink safe water. To live free from toxins we can actually prove are harmful. To have a world-class NIH discovering tomorrow’s cures. To make informed decisions based on evidence, not ideology.
